Job Description:

Basic Function and Responsibility:

The Senior Student Care Coordinator primarily works with emerging, urgent or unexpected student situations involving medical, behavioral, mental health, or personal crises that impact students' well-being and ability to successfully function in the College community. Lead the operation activates of Care Coordination Department. Facilitate and coordinate information, relationships and joint projects across departments within Student Affairs.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Manage day to day operations of the Care Coordination Department, including Staff supervision, logistics and operations, workflow management coupled with students' disposition.
  • Assist Dean with management of budgeting needs and approving expenditures.
  • Provide crisis intervention and/or management, as appropriate.
  • Help facilitate a student's access to, and appropriate utilization of, College and/or community services.
  • Serve as a point-of-contact for all students rather than only designated to Wellness Center.
  • Establish partnerships with local agencies to provide additional resources to students and maintain close working relationships with the Office of Student Affairs, including:
    • Counseling and Health Services,
    • Access & Disability Resource Center,
    • Campus Police,
    • Office of Access, Equity and Student Responsibility,
    • College Threat Assessment Team
  • Initiate processes and procedures to streamline how student concerns are addressed and successfully resolved. Serve as a member of the College Threat Assessment Team.
  • Participate in On-Call system and respond to student crises as assigned.
  • Occasional requirement to work irregular hours to support Respond to after-hours and/or weekend emergencies on a limited basis, as part of an on-call rotation.
  • Provide training for faculty and staff related to working with students in distress.
  • Plan and conduct programs to promote prevention and awareness, inform campus groups on services and referral processes, and promote health and wellness initiatives.
  • Establishing partnerships with local agencies to provide additional resources to students.
  • Establishing processes and procedures to streamline how student concerns are addressed and successfully resolved
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Qualifications and Working Conditions:
  • Master's degree is required, preferably in counseling, psychology, social work or related field.
  • Licensed mental health practitioner is required, preferably LCSW, LCPC or Licensed Psychologist.
  • Experience working with clients/students with mental health concerns, including risk and threat assessment.
  • Crisis intervention/management experience.
  • Previous experience working in multi-disciplinary groups or teams and/or inter-departmental communication and coordination.
  • A high level of interpersonal and communication skills, including:
The ability to technically and thoughtfully document and follow up with student care matters.
The ability to design and present educational programs and to make presentations to groups of various sizes.
Must be able to give and receive advice and opinions and interact with individuals in situations requiring sensitivity and tact.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to building and maintaining relationships with multi-culturally diverse students and colleagues. This includes prior experience, an ongoing commitment, and relevant ability to engage and work with a multi-culturally diverse student population.
  • Ability to utilize a keyboard to enter, maintain and manipulate data in a personal computer is required.
  • Ability to interact professionally and tactfully with people of different levels of education, cultural backgrounds, and life experiences, and to exhibit an adequate level of respect to fellow employees and the College community at large.
Physical Demands:

Light lifting up to 10 lbs. and light carrying up to 10 lbs. Ability to reach above shoulder. Periods of time spent sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, bending and stooping. Mobility to move from building to building on-Campus and to visit off-Campus entities. Work is performed in a general office environment and is sedentary in nature. Little or no exposure to adverse working conditions.


Additional Information:

Supervision Received:

General supervision is received from the Dean of Counseling, Health and Wellness and Health Services.

Supervision Exercised:

Administrative supervision exercised over Care Staff. Functional supervision may be exercised over student employees.

HOURS: Monday - Friday 8:15 am - 5:00 pm (1 day to be spent on the Skokie campus)

SALARY: $82,062 Salary is non-negotiable

Based on the needs of the college and with Administrator approval, some positions at the college may have remote or hybrid schedule options available. Please note, that during the 65 working day probationary period, employees are required to report to campus.
