The Whiting School of Engineering - Engineering for Professionals (WSE-EP) is seeking a Student Academic Success Coordinator to support students through their academic life cycle in the areas of student success, satisfaction, and retention. This critical role supports the outcomes of WSE-EP's students through a combination of high touch consultations with students around their academic goals, connecting students with resources and services to help them succeed, identifying and strategizing resources to drive student success, and data-driven decision making. A successful candidate will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders and serve as a subject matter expert in student success, satisfaction, and retention.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities- In partnership with the Associate Dean and Manager of Academic Affairs and the Engineering Education Program Services Office, implements strategies to positively impact key metrics, (e.g., student satisfaction, student retention, and graduation rates)
- Manages student attrition through analyzing problem areas, determining solutions to eliminate or reduce the impact of potential barriers
- Identifies and implements processes and technological solutions (e.g., Degree Audit, OnBase) within the Office of Academic Affairs, which will address student and Faculty Advisor needs, in conjunction with EP student services partners
- In collaboration with the Manager of Academic Affairs, Office of Engineering Support and Advocacy, and Director of Enrollment Management, implements student success and retention strategies and match students with the appropriate resources to aid in their success
- Collaborates with WSE-EP leadership and key campus resources to facilitate the successful transition of students into WSE-EP through the new student orientation
- Maintains records of individual student data in accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)
- Provides and partners in trainings to educate students regarding WSE-EP's academic policies, support systems, and resources
- Practices data-driven outreach, proactive resource referral, and timely academic solution interventions to meet the needs of students
- Partners daily with offices across the university (e.g., Registrar, Enrollment Management, Case Management, Disability Services, Faculty Advisors, Student Conduct, Career Services) to assist students in resolving issues, navigating support, and managing complex cases that may affect persistence, satisfaction, and degree completion
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree
- Three years progressively responsible experience in program administration in an academic environment
- Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional experience may substitute for required education to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree and 3 - 5 years' experience in at least one of the following areas: higher education program management, case management, advising, retention, or enrollment services
- Experience working with graduate professional, online students
- Knowledge of and experience with working with students with a
multitude of intersectional identities and creating inclusive
learning environments for them to succeed and thrive
- Comprehensive knowledge of opportunities and challenges
impacting international students
- Knowledge of higher education laws and regulations impacting
students
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including
ability to present and write creative cogent communication with
students
- Familiarity and comfort with analytical skills, with ability to
summarize data for reflection and action by
stakeholders.
- Project management and event planning skills, with the ability
to effectively manage many simultaneous projects and
issues
- Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential records and
information
- Strong attention to detail, adherence to deadlines, and
excellent follow through
- Ability to think critically and identify potential issues
before they arise
- Strong MS Office Suite skills and high degree of comfort working with large databases and spreadsheet

Starting Salary Range: $46,560 - $64,100 - $81,650 annually
