ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:
The USF Health Taneja College of Pharmacy is managed by the Dean and an actively engaged administrative leadership team. The mission of the college is to Transform Health through educating students to be outstanding and successful practitioners and leaders in the profession; through leading in discovery and innovation of education and practice in pharmacy; and through delivering the highest quality care in diverse, interprofessional clinical and community settings.

POSITION SUMMARY:
A Unit Research Administrator acts as a primary contact between unit Principal Investigators, Sponsored Research, and Research Financial Management on the development, review and subsequent administration of grants and contracts. The position researches grant sources and informs faculty in a college/department of potential research opportunities.

This position works in the Office of Research and Business within the Dean's Office of the Taneja College of Pharmacy and reports to the Assistant Dean for Finance and Business. This position supports researchers by preparing budget projections and advising researchers on the granting process. The position researches internal and external grant sources and disseminates information on grant opportunities that are of interest to the college. The Unit Research Administrator will provide guidance to the researcher on the administrative steps of grant set up and management.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Finds and promotes grant opportunities. Identifies sources of funding for the conduct of research and/or service programs. Provides technical assistance and guidance to facilitate the development, administrative review, and funding process for faculty.

Conveys proposal guidelines to researcher. Reviews applications for research projects for format and completeness.

Reviews award budget and expenditures (expenses, equipment, and salaries) for compliance with grant terms and unit guidelines.

Reconciles projects on a monthly basis, prepares documents to correct expenditures in keeping with the budget categories, and maintains supporting documents. Acts as liaison with fiscal offices on setting up new accounts.

Assists with budget and activity reports on active grants to Research Financial Management and Sponsored Research.

Keeps statistics on unit research activities.

Makes presentations to faculty, graduate classes and others in the unit on research opportunities, research proposal development, fiscal compliance, and human subjects' compliance.

Coordinates internal proposal submission and approval. Including checking USF internal forms for compliance concerns, meeting with faculty regarding budget questions, working with department chairs on resource commitments. Coordinates meetings of department faculty with research administration and compliance committees. Acts as liaison with compliance specialists in the USF Office of Research.

Monitors usage of core facilities and comparative medicine compliance related to usage.

Develops and updates a database on unit research proposals and awards, Institutional Review Board steps, dates that reports are due, and vitae of researchers. Provides reports on activities to administrators.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

MINIMUM:
This position requires a Bachelor's degree and 1 year of professional administrative experience; or a Master's degree.  Progressively responsible related experience may substitute for the required education on a year for year basis.

PREFERRED:
Previous research administration experience. Experience in higher education administration. Knowledge of the research process. Previous research administration experience at USF. Knowledge of USF systems and operations.
