New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) seeks a Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO). A world-class university with a liberal arts and science college at its core, NYUAD is pioneering a new model of higher education for a global world, dedicated to excellence in teaching and research and advancing cooperation and progress on humanity’s shared challenges. Established in 2010, the university offers BA and BS degrees in Arts & Humanities, Engineering, Science, and Social Sciences, 10 global PhD programs, and is expanding its offering to include new Master’s degrees. Its 80 research projects, labs, and centers focus on subjects ranging from Astro particle physics, applied interactive multimedia, cyber security, and privacy, to evolutionary genomics. All instruction is in English.


As one of the most selective undergraduate universities in the world, NYUAD enrolls a diverse student body of over 1,450 from more than 115 countries, including 14% from the UAE and 12% from the US. The modern campus is based on 40 acres of Saadiyat Island within a planned cultural district that also houses the Louvre Abu Dhabi, the cultural center Manarat Al Saadiyat, and hosts the annual Abu Dhabi Art festival. The Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) reports locally to the NYUAD Chief Administrative Business Officer (CABO) as well as NYU’s Vice President for Human Resources (VPHR). The CHRO directs the university’s Human Resources department and is responsible for:

• Developing, recommending, and implementing university-wide employee policies and       practices.

• Providing direction, guidance, and implementation support to the campus.

• Creating and delivering the strategic vision of the HR department.

• Resolving HR issues to ensure appropriate resolution.

• Establishing and monitoring service metrics and adjusting HR processes, procedures, and       staffing.

Candidate qualifications include:

• A Bachelor’s degree: a Master’s in Human Resources or a related discipline is preferred.

• 10 years or more senior-level HR management experience within a large academic,  government organization, or non-profit entity.

• Experience in higher education is highly desirable.

• Experience in HR administration in the Middle East, and Arabic or other regional language skills are advantageous.
