Position Summary

This temporary assignment will end at the department’s discretion or when funding or hours are exhausted.

Governors State University Family Development Center is seeking an Extra Help Incumbent Workforce Substitute Teacher/Assistant. The person selected for this role will provide care and instruction for children ages six weeks to eight years old in our infant, preschool, and school-age programs.


The hourly rate of pay is $15.00
Work Schedule: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (Hours may vary based on program needs )

Minimum Qualifications

1. Must be a resident of the State of Illinois.
2. Skills and knowledge necessary to complete job functions:
3. Be at least 19 years of age
4. High School Diploma
5. As of September 30, 2017 all teachers and assistants and aides are required to have an Illinois Early Childhood Education Credential Level 1 Credential

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education or 60 credit hours with 6 in ECE .

1. As of September 30, 2017, all teachers, assistants, and aides are required to have an Illinois Early Childhood Education Credential Level 1.

2. You must be able to supply transcripts.

3. Possession of credentials required by Illinois Department of Children and Family Services for employment as a Child Care Worker in a licensed child care facility. The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services required credentials can be reviewed at:
