REPORTS TO: Senior Director of Individual Giving
Sidwell Friends, a coeducational Quaker day school, seeks a full-time Director of Annual Giving to work with the Advancement Department, located on its DC campus. The Director of Annual Giving is responsible for providing strategic leadership for an ambitious multi-million-dollar Annual Giving program, which is an essential priority in the Schools comprehensive capital campaign.
The Director of Annual Giving is responsible for providing strategic leadership for an ambitious multi-million-dollar Annual Giving program, which is an essential priority in the Schools comprehensive capital campaign.
The Director will develop a comprehensive annual giving strategic plan and be responsible for the successful management and execution of the program to achieve unrestricted and restricted financial goals. This includes setting and achieving goals for donor upgrades, retention, and acquisition; and analyzing and utilizing data to make decisions about growth opportunities and resource deployment.
Director leads the successful project management of the annual giving and direct mail program which includes the creation of message development and draft appeal copy, segmentation of audiences, target ask identification, and successful project management. The Director will work with volunteers and collaborate with Advancement staff to lead annual giving solicitations, including micro-campaigns and special appeals, acknowledgment and stewardship, and work toward a multi-year plan to increase annual giving support (both in dollars and participation percentages) from several constituencies including parents and grandparents, past parents and grandparents, alumni, faculty and staff, among others.
This position assists with the identification and qualification of major gift prospective donors, collaborates on the strategic marketing and outreach of planned giving to segmented audiences, manages the direct mail and peer-to-peer solicitation vendors, and ensures annual giving digital content is current and accurate. The Director of Annual Giving manages the Assistant Director of Annual Giving and reports to the Senior Director of Individual Giving.
Qualifications include 5+ years of fundraising and management experience. Experience working with a $4M+ Annual Fund scaled for growth. The successful candidate will possess the demonstrated capability in strategic planning, data analysis, solicitation, volunteer management, and project management. The candidate will be responsible for inspiring volunteers and colleagues. It is essential that the Director work independently and as a collaborative team player.
