Job Details

Landmark College, located in southern Vermont, is a premier institution for neurodivergent students. The College is seeking an experienced individual for a full-time, on-campus staff position of Research Associate within the Landmark College Institute for Research and Training (LCIRT).

Primary duties include proposing and carrying out research on the efficacy of learning strategies and pedagogies designed to support neurodivergent learners, including those with learning disabilities, ADHD, and/or autism. Preference will be given to candidates whose research addresses one, or more, of the follow topic areas: learner variability, Universal Design, executive function, student transition, social-emotional learning, or educational technology. The Research Associate will be expected to regularly pursue federal, state, and foundation grants to support research initiatives; although it should be noted this position is fully funded and supported by the College (i.e. “hard-funded”). In addition to conducting discovery and applied research, the Research Associate will be responsible for the management of LCIRT’s research laboratory and associated programs, such as its Research Mentorship Program for undergraduate research interns, and the College-wide Research Brown Bag program. On occasion, the Research Associate will also create and deliver evidence-based professional development offerings to external educators and other stakeholders. After core duties have been established, the Research Associate may have opportunities to teach and create courses in their discipline.

The Research Associate will report to the Senior Director of LCIRT and will collaborate with LCIRT staff in the pursuit of public and private funding opportunities.

QUALIFICATIONS:
A doctoral degree in a field related to neurodiversity (e.g., Special Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Psychology, Cognitive Psychology) is strongly preferred; qualified candidates with a master’s degree will be considered. Candidates with at least 3 years of research experience post terminal degree are strongly preferred. The candidate must have a portfolio that demonstrates capacity to pursue grant funding, manage projects, and handle a number of simultaneously competing priorities. Experience should include evidence of conducting research and interventions related to neurodiversity, analyzing information using a range of quantitative and qualitative measures, summarizing/synthesizing data to identify research findings and recommendations, and communicating information to professional audiences in written, spoken, and presentation formats. Must be able to demonstrate outstanding communication and project management skills, be a self-starter, and manage complex, multifaceted programs and initiatives, including occasional remote work.

Diversifying the student body, faculty, and administration is congruent with Landmark’s mission. We value diverse populations and cultures, including, but not limited to, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, national origin, neurodiversity, disability, race, and religion.

Landmark College offers challenging employment with competitive salary and a comprehensive benefit program. Interested individuals should apply with a cover letter, CV, and full contact information for three professional references to the Director of Human Resources: humanresources@landmark.edu. To find out more about the College please visit us: www.landmark.edu SIGN-ON BONUS $2500

Landmark College

While many colleges offer special programs for students with learning disabilities (LD) and other learning challenges, Landmark College is one of the only accredited colleges in the United States designed exclusively for students who learn differently, including students with learning disabilities (such as dyslexia), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and autism.

Landmark College’s mission is to transform the way students learn, educators teach, and the public thinks about education. We provide highly accessible approaches to learning that empower individuals who learn differently to exceed their aspirations and to achieve their greatest potential. Through the Landmark College Institute for Research and Training, the College aims to extend its mission across the nation and throughout the world.

Students at Landmark College get far more personal, directed assistance than at traditional colleges that often offer a grab bag of accommodations for students with learning disabilities, ADHD, or autism. Students at Landmark College receive individualized attention from classroom instructors—in courses tailored to meet their educational needs. This is evidenced by our exceptionally low student/faculty ratio of 6:1. Our experienced advisors meet frequently with students to review and guide their progress. In addition to advising, a wide array of other academic support is integral to a Landmark College education, including executive function coachingeducational technology support, and the services of our centers for academic support. All instructors are trained professional educators, not teaching assistants or peer tutors.

Landmark College is located in Putney, Vermont, in the southeastern part of the state. The campus is two and a half hours from Boston and four hours from New York. Southern Vermont also has a great deal to offer. Within half an hour of campus, faculty, staff and students can find amenities more often associated with an urban environment, including movie theaters, shops, restaurants, live music, art, and theater. Members of the campus community who love the outdoors will find world-class skiing, snowboarding, hiking, kayaking, and mountain biking just minutes from campus.

Our Office of Human Resources strives to ensure that we are an employer of choice, attracting and retaining uniquely talented individuals able to advance the College’s position as the college of choice for students who learn differently. We are committed to a philosophy that recognizes each person as an individual, worthy of respect, trust, dignity and fair treatment, and we apply these tenets to serve, support, and value all members of our community.
