Job Summary:
This role will provide excellent constituent-centered service to students, parents, faculty, staff, and the public for Enrollment Services while protecting student privacy. More specifically, they will ensure the smooth flow of daily operations while supporting colleagues, in addition to documenting Enrollment Services procedures.
Job Description:
Responsibilities:
Serves as primary, in-person support for Enrollment Services front desk operations. Triages questions and concerns about Enrollment Services occurring in person, via telephone, fax, email, postal mail, or virtual meetings. Answers routine questions or concerns by restating information available from enroll.furman.edu. Opens and closes Enrollment Services front desk daily. Responds to emails sent to the general Enrollment Services email account in a timely manner, and follows up with each correspondence. Coordinates the accurate, timely, and appropriate release of official documents (academic transcripts, degree verifications, and enrollment certifications) and maintains data related to the release of these documents. Accepts student account payments. Regularly updates individual student records related to university degree requirements. Assists with coordination of university ID card production for students. Documents Enrollment Services procedures. Describes policy and logic that informs procedures to ensure common understanding, writes detailed instructions about how to perform tasks that can be used to train others, updates service scripts explaining how to respond to commonly asked questions. Escalates concerns as appropriate to solve problems in all functional areas. Fully understands and appropriately applies Furman's student information release policies and standards. Completes performance review process with supervisor to understand job performance expectations and fit with department and university goals. Performs other duties as assigned to ensure smooth flow of operations.
Relationships:
Works with co-workers, faculty, staff, students, parents and the public to exchange factual information and explain rules, regulations, and practices.
Responsibility for Final Decisions:
Responsible for own work. May assist or guide others doing similar work; including student workers.
Tasks involve multiple procedures with interrelated processes or steps. Work involves choosing the appropriate option or procedure to follow and applying established rules and procedures.
Errors are readily detected in the normal course of work by standard check or crosscheck.
Reports To: Associate Director of Enrollment Services
Work is performed independently on routine work, non-routine issues or questions are referred to the supervisor.
Required Education, Skills and Training:
Associate degree or higher with experience in administration or customer service. Experience in a high traffic environment is a plus.
Friendly, engaging and excited to help any and all members of the university community.
High attention to detail.
Significant computer background including experience with relational databases.
Strong organizational skills.
Effective communication skills, including clear and concise writing.
Ability to adapt and respond positively to an ever-changing work place.
Work Conditions:
Work is performed under usual office conditions. This position requires in-person office presence.
