Associate Director for Lifelong Learning

JOB SUMMARY

Talent development for Roux Institute Partners takes many shapes and forms, ranging from deployment of degree and certificate programs to customized, targeted, non-credit course offerings designed for workforce upskilling. During the 2020-2022 academic years alone, we have enrolled over 500 partner employees in our company-targeted learning experiences. The Associate Director for Partnership Learning will be responsible for driving the curation of learning and training experiences for our partners and their employees and help the Roux Academic Leadership Team devise innovative experiential learning. Examples include:

  • Apply a customer-focused mindset and approach to identify corporate organizational learning needs in Roux partners and others in the Maine ecosystem and to map existing courses, programs, and instructional talent to meet those needs in alignment with Roux Institute impact goals
  • Drive curation and customization of existing courses and programs from across Northeastern University in a rapid iteration model, and work with academic colleagues to develop new offerings as appropriate
  • As a “product owner,” develop standardized offering requirements and delivery processes that are optimized for the corporate learning environment to speed time-to-market
  • In collaboration with the Director of Experiential Learning, identify experiential opportunities for corporate learners, such as co-op, embedded experiential learning in the workplace, apprenticeships, degree-to-career opportunities, etc.
  • Harness faculty and other subject-matter experts, University-wide or external as appropriate, from across 9 schools and colleges to develop and deliver targeted business-to-business programming
  • Close engagement with course design resources (such as NU EDGE) to develop a highly interactive and high-quality learning environment responsive to employers' needs.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Proficiency in academic product development in in Roux Institute areas of focus, including project management, data analytics, life sciences, engineering, computer science, or data science. Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams. Excellent communication skills, ability to effectively communicate and align priorities between the partner and the academic personnel designing and delivering the learning opportunities. Ability to synthesize diverse and complex information and data; design refined strategies, solution, and workflows that a presentable to stakeholders. Knowledge and skills required for this position are normally acuired through a Master's degree plus at least 3 years working in higher education AND 3+ years in corporate Learning and Development; OR 5+ years working in a higher education organization focused on corporate learning partners

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Collaborate with the Roux Academic Leadership Team and Partnership Team to lead learning discovery conversations with Roux Institute partner organizations, engaging Northeastern faculty from across the network for subject matter expertise. These discovery conversations will lead to an understanding of desired outcomes and course format
  • Build an understanding and cultivate product vision based on business cases uncovered during learning discovery, and based on relevant product research, competitive intelligence, and market analysis.
  • In collaboration with University stakeholders such as Educational Innovation and representatives of NU Academic disciplines, define a standardized set of offering requirements and delivery mechanisms to ensure consistency across learner experiences from different domains
  • Understand the broad scope of available academic programming from across Northeastern University available for adaptation, customization, and deployment
  • Collaborate with Roux Institute and college academic leadership to identify faculty members to develop and deliver noncredit offerings
  • Work with faculty, facilitate the creation of effective non-credit learning experiences (or credit-based, where appropriate) to be deployed in synchronous, asynchronous, or hybrid formats
  • Supervise a growing, high-performance team of program support and learning design staff to develop curated offerings for the lifelong learning space
  • Co-create a suite of Workforce Learning Advisory offerings and support execution by providing guidance to consulting teams
  • Work with other Lifelong Learning staff to develop and deploy pre-course and post-course evaluations to ascertain learner experience and course performance against stated learning outcomes, and then collaborate in developing redesigned programs based on this feedback
  • Manage the program life cycle (including portfolio management and program strategy) and end-to-end creation and deployment of partner programming, including programming for key verticals
