Summary Position
The Assistant Dean of Development and Alumni Relations (ADoDAR) for Elon's School of Law will report to the Director of Development and the Elon Society in University Advancement and the Dean of the School of Law and is responsible for development activities within the School of Law. The ADoDAR will manage a portfolio of university constituents that are directly connected to the School of Law, helping to increase engagement and philanthropy, particularly at the leadership annual giving level. They will work closely with the Dean of the School of Law and University Advancement leaders to ensure appropriate coordination efforts within the School and across the University.

The ADoDAR will help develop and execute long and short-term strategies to grow the School of Law philanthropic pipeline and secure gifts that will benefit the school. They will engage primarily with alumni from the School of Law to qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors as they move through the philanthropic pipeline.

    General Purpose of Position

    The ADoDAR will help develop and execute long and short-term strategies to grow the School of Law philanthropic pipeline and secure gifts that will benefit the school.     As part of a dynamic team, the ADoDAR is responsible for identifying and developing relationships with Elon School of Law constituents with the goal of soliciting them for leadership annual gifts. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing strategies to ensure proper qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of Law School donors. This position will require frequent travel as the position works to support the priorities of the university’s comprehensive fundraising campaign, Elon LEADs, and strategic plan, Boldly Elon.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities
    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    · Identify, establish, and maintain personal contact with current and prospective donors to the School of Law, particularly alumni at the leadership annual giving level· Meet regularly with the Dean of the School of Law and other leadership of the School to update on progress and to coordinate future activity· Advance relationships with prospective donors through appropriate stages of qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship to ensure fundraising goals of the School of Law are being met· Assist the Dean of the School of Law, as appropriate, in planning and execution of Board of Advisors meetings and activity· Collaborate with appropriate staff within the School of Law, University Advancement and across the university· Help to develop and execute specific strategies and metrics to drive success in School of Law development activities· Frequent travel and/or evening and weekend duties are required. The ADoDAR will be required to travel for in person prospect visits, as well as university and department events· Regularly report to appropriate staff on the progress of development activities within the School of Law· Assist, as appropriate, in identification, cultivation and stewardship of School of Law corporate partners· Utilize university databases, including The Raisers Edge NXT, to document all appropriate activity and track activity against metrics· Assist with University Advancement events and activities as needed.

    Education and Experience
    Bachelor’s degree required. Advanced degree preferred. Several years of professional experience in fundraising, sales, or a comparable university or not-for-profit development function. Higher education advancement experience preferred.
