Position Announcement

Under the direction of the Math Department Chair, the Director of Quantitative Literacy Completion oversees concurrent enrollment efforts for the Math Department at Utah Tech University (UT). This position also serves as the Director of the Utah Tech PREP summer STEM program. The director must work closely with members of the UT Math faculty, WCSD faculty and administrators, parents and students from the community, and local industry partners to create an environment that is innovative, creative, and empowering for all involved. Responsibilities

Concurrent Enrollment (70%)
  • Create and maintain curriculum delivery courses through Canvas, MyMathLab, and ALEKS online platforms.
  • Continue growth efforts as designated in SB 196 legislative funding award. Report these efforts to USHE annually and reapply for new funding.
  • Train, collaborate, and observe current CE instructors in both Washington County and Kane County School Districts.
  • Provide feedback to both UT and WCSD faculty regarding areas for improvement.
Utah Tech PREP (20%)
  • Oversee execution of the Utah Tech PREP summer STEM outreach program – a free six-week math-intensive summer program for high-achieving middle school students.
  • Coordinate with the PREP leadership team regarding the direction and planning of events.
  • Facilitate hiring of staff and supervise performance.
  • Foster relationships with program sponsors and industry partners.
  • Create a budget and lead fundraising efforts.
Math Department (10%)
  • Instruction of three courses as designated by the department.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in the field of mathematics, math education, or related field required. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience in both public education and higher education fields.
  • Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Communicate clearly and respectfully with others.
  • Ability to work well on a team and independently.
  • Ability to organize priorities and complete tasks across several projects or initiatives concurrently.
  • Ability to write reports and secure funding.
  • Ability to think creatively about new opportunities, challenges, and problems.
Supplemental Information

POSITION DETAILS, COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: Full-time professional staff (overtime-exempt) position. Annual salary of $59,000, with a desired start date of January 1, 2023.
