Veterinary Parasitology Position

 

The Department of Veterinary Pathobiology in the College of Veterinary Medicine at Oklahoma State University invites applications and nominations for a full-time, tenure-track, faculty position in Veterinary Parasitology.  The appointee will be expected to develop and sustain a competitive, extramurally funded research program in veterinary parasitology. Their research program should complement the College’s interactive and dynamic research environment committed to investigating infectious diseases of animals and humans. 

 

The successful candidate will be expected to excel at teaching and inclusive mentoring in our professional veterinary curriculum and our Comparative Biomedical Science graduate program and participate in diagnostic consultation to the Oklahoma Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory.  Participation in College service committees is expected.

 

Qualifications include dual DVM/PhD degrees (or equivalent) or PhD however, advanced training and experience in veterinary parasitology is expected. Individuals with achievement of or eligibility for certification in Parasitology by the American College of Veterinary Microbiologists are specifically encouraged to apply. The successful applicant must possess excellent interpersonal and communications skills, a demonstrated ability to work with others in a collegial team atmosphere, and a proven record of research productivity that would be expected to garner competitive support. Appointment will be at the assistant or associate professorial rank.

 

The College is home to the National Center for Veterinary Parasitology (NCVP), a non-profit organization dedicated to furthering the discipline by bringing together partners from academia and industry to address emerging issues. The primary goals of NCVP are to train the next generation of future leaders of veterinary parasitology, promote outstanding veterinary clinical parasitology research, provide veterinary clinical parasitology diagnostic expertise to practicing veterinarians, and provide science-based consulting expertise on parasite treatment and prevention strategies. Participation and leadership among NCVP-directed activities and initiatives will be expected.

 

The College and University has excellent research support facilities including multiple BSL-3 laboratories and ABSL-3 animal housing rooms, Center for Genomics and Proteomics, Immunopathology Core, Oklahoma Statewide Shared Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Facility, Recombinant DNA/Protein Resource Facility, Electron Microscopy Laboratory, and High-Performance Computing Center.
