Job Details

The Director of Information Services reports directly to the Senior Director, Prospect Management and Research and manages three full-time staff members. The Director’s team oversees the day-to-day bio-maintenance of entity records in the Advance database which includes over 900,000 records affiliated with the University of Maryland.

 

This person sets priorities for all biographical record maintenance efforts throughout the fiscal year, including data updates and requests from 100+ users and oversees loading of new student, parent and graduate data during regular annual times.

 

The Director of Information Services collaborates with other data stewards (including the University System of Maryland Advancement office) to help formulate and uphold data governance policies and procedures to ensure standardized data processes and to establish consistent data definitions.

 

Education (include licenses, certifications, etc.): 

 

  • Bachelor’s degree required.


Experience: 

  • A minimum of 5 years of document/records management-related experience is required. Candidates should also have at least 2 years of experience managing the governance of a relational database, and at least 2 years of supervisory experience.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong supervisory/management skills required.
  • Working knowledge of data guardianship for complex constituent databases.
  • Ability to maintain the highest degree of confidentiality, sound judgment, meticulous attention to detail, and work ethic.
  • Highly developed analytical capabilities, including broad-based categorical thinking.
  • Excellent MS Office, data manipulation, and research skills including data retrieval services (Lexis/Nexis/Accurint, Excel, Word, etc.)
  • Must be able to negotiate data transfers with technical administrators of other databases as well as communicate clear policy and procedure to multiple levels of staff.
  • Projection of a professional image at all times and particularly in regards to the reputation of the database and the delivery of updates to the community and senior-level management.
  • Highly developed analytical capabilities, including broad-based categorical thinking and detection of patterns within sets of information.
