Many opportunities exist for different lines of research in Exercise Science?laboratories are well-equipped and we have access to diverse participant populations including NCAA Division III athletes as well as residents from The Spires at Berry College, a new continuing care retirement community located on campus, offering opportunities for faculty research as it relates to nutrition, wellness, and rehabilitation. Kinesiology faculty also have the opportunity to partner with faculty in Nursing to promote health, wellness, and activity in Berry's intergenerational campus community (including children attending on-campus laboratory schools). In addition to a commitment to excellence in teaching, service, and an active research program, the faculty member should possess a strong interest in mentoring students in a residential college environment. Faculty are expected to involve undergraduates in their research, serve as academic advisors, and contribute to the vitality of the campus and professional communities through their service. Kinesiology offers its students signature experiences through a required senior internship as well as strongly encouraging them to participate in undergraduate research, upper-level LifeWorks positions related to health and wellness, and/or study abroad. Start-up funds are available, along with competitive internal research support and assistance in seeking external funding.
