Position Summary:

The tenure-track position in the Department of Journalism will contribute primarily to the Oshkosh campus but with the expectation of contribution to all campuses and course delivery modes (in-person, online [synchronous/asynchronous], and hybrid). Courses taught will include undergraduate courses in Writing for the Media, Editing, Advertising Copy, Layout and Production, Advertising Media, New and Emerging Media, and Law of Mass Communication.

Responsibilities
Qualifications
Required:
  • PhD in a field related to journalism, communication or relevant field. ABD candidates will be considered, provided the Ph.D. is confirmed by the start of appointment.
  • Background or experience necessary to teach several undergraduate courses from the following list: Writing for the Media, Editing, Advertising Copy, Layout and Production, Advertising Media, New and Emerging Media, and Law of Mass Communication.
  • Knowledge of and experience with industry-specific software applications
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion

Preferred:
  • Be able to teach upper-level courses in at least two of the department’s majors
  • Active research agenda
  • At least two years of professional experience in journalism or related field
  • Ability to advise student organizations
