The Department of Foreign Languages & Literatures at the State University of New York College at Oneonta invites applications for a potential Adjunct Lecturer French position, possibly beginning Spring 2023. Applications will be kept on file in the Foreign Languages & Literatures Department for consideration for two years. The initial appointment will be for one semester.

The Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures has major and minor programs in French and Spanish as well as the language part of French and Spanish Education. We are a small department with two full-time French faculty and five full-time Spanish faculty. Class sizes are capped at 25 students. Position Description: To teach one or two in-person sections of Introductory French, FREN 1001 or 1002.

Duties include but not limited to: Adjunct lecturers are responsible for all hours of instruction and may not change classes from in-person to online. French 1001 and 1002 instructors consult with the full-time French faculty on material to be covered but otherwise each instructor decides how/when to evaluate student work.


Requirements:

Required Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree completed or in progress at time of application
  • Native or near-native proficiency in the language being taught
  • Native or near-native proficiency in English
  • Teaching experience at either the high school or college level
Preferred:
  • Experience working with diverse populations and/or teaching pedagogies and/or multicultural teaching experience
