PURPOSE AND SCOPE:
Under general/limited supervision, position is responsible for
multiple, significant functions in the campus Wellness Center.
Ensures all LSC policies, practices and surrounding functions are
carried out correctly.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Supervises the weight room
- Maintains and cleans equipment
- Welcomes guests to the Wellness Center
- Teaches guests how to use the equipment and provides basic
- Ensures rules and regulations are enforced
- Provides basic first aid if necessary
- Reports and resolves complaints
- Must be able to re-rack weight plates
- Responsible for cleaning equipment and surrounding floor space,
cardiovascular machine, free weights and pin selector
- Responsible for other reasonable related duties as
- Capable of lifting up to 45 pounds
- Ability to cooperate and work well with other staff
- Good communication skills
- Basic knowledge of fitness equipment and exercise
- Customer service orientated
- Proficient in the use of computers and related software for
word processing, spread sheets, and database management; Specific
software experience in Windows and Microsoft Office
The work requires some physical exertion, such as long periods of
standing; walking over rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces; recurring
bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, or similar
activities; or recurring lifting of moderately heavy items. The
work may require specific, but common, physical characteristics and
abilities, such as above average agility and dexterity.
WORK SCHEDULE AND CONDITIONS:
- Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a
Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general
office equipment, and workout/exercise equipment
- Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to
carry out the functions of the position
- Work is performed in a gymnasium/fitness type of
- May be scheduled to work morning, afternoon, evening shifts on
weekdays or weekends
- High School Diploma or GED
- AED/CPR/First-aid certified, or willing to become certified
within first 30 days after being hired
Hourly Pay Rate is $12.50
