Job Duties:
The Instructional Designer/Multimedia Specialist works as part of a team in the teaching and learning center at Athens State University. The Athens Teaching and Learning Innovation Services (ATLIS) department was established in 2019 to meet the growing need to support the management of instructional technologies and creation of course content for asynchronous and synchronous course instruction. ATLIS directly supports online learning management systems, instructional design and content creation, classroom instructional technology, and campus meeting and performance venue technology. The ATLIS team works collaboratively with academic leadership and faculty to further the teaching and learning mission of Athens State University. This position reports to the ATLIS Director and works closely with staff and faculty in instructional design and multimedia content creation for online, blended, and face-to-face learning environments.

DUTIES:
  • Designs and creates interactive multimedia content for use in courses
  • Designs and creates graphics for use in multimedia, print, and web-based products
  • Designs and develops brochures, announcements, training materials, how-to guides, etc.
  • Writes scripts and develops storyboards for videos and other multimedia products
  • Shoots and edits field and studio-based videos for instructional products, utilizing professional video and audio technology
  • Serves as Technical Producer for live webinars and other cloud-based events originating in the television studio and other locations
  • Designs and conducts training for faculty in multimedia skills and best practices
  • Consults with faculty to recommend multimedia tools and strategies
  • Researches best practices in instructional design and multimedia development
  • Collaborates with faculty and staff on course design and content creation.
  • Applies best practices of instructional design and multimedia learning to course design and development
  • Provides occasional audio-visual support for events and meetings.


Required Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
  • Bachelor’s degree or experience as an instructional designer or multimedia producer
  • Some experience with graphics and multimedia creation tools
  • Proficient skills using Microsoft Office
  • Keene interest in developing further knowledge and skills in developing online courses and multimedia content.
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision or oversight
  • This position requires evening and weekend work as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Instructional Design or Media Production
  • Experience in a university setting as an instructional design/multimedia production
  • Proficient skills using professional cameras and video editing and management equipment in a studio setting
  • Experience with some or all of the following applications: Adobe Premiere, Camtasia Studio, Adobe After Effects, Audacity, VMix, Captivate, Articulate Storyline, Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign
