The University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine is seeking a Director of Student Affairs who will lead the student support services work of the M.D. Program. The primary function of this position is to lead the student services work of the School of Medicine, including the overall integration of the curricular, co-curricular, and extracurricular experience for all medical students and the optimization of student achievement of their educational and personal goals.
The Director is responsible for the development, implementation and assessment of medical student support services and programs. The position oversees programs and initiatives including the Learning and Wellness Resource Center, Multi-Tiered System of Support program, health and wellness programs, personal educational plans, and extracurricular programs and activities. The Director serves as an advocate for students and ensures students get the help and resources they need to engage in a positive learning experience. Critical to the role is compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act. This position also supervises administrative faculty, classified employees and student employees
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree and five years of related professional work experience or a Master’s Degree and three years of related professional work experience or a Doctorate Degree and one year of related professional work experience. Related Experience: A minimum of 3 years of experience in academic administration and medical education or related field. The candidate should have a working knowledge of educational programs planning, implementation and assessment.
Certification and Licensure:
- Preferred Degree in Education or closely related field or a DO/MD with a degree or fellowship in an education related field.
Schedule or Travel Requirements:
- Occasional travel
- Flexibility to address student issues on nights and weekends
