Job Description
The senior counselor role serves as a member of a collaborative student wellbeing team dedicated to supporting and promoting student health and wellbeing as a core institutional value. Through a multidisciplinary, comprehensive approach, this position will serve as a licensed mental health professional providing direct mental health services to a diverse community of undergraduate and graduate students. Using a short-term intervention and stepped care model, the senior counselor will be responsible for providing individual and group counseling, walk-in assessments, consultations, and crisis intervention services. This position may also assist in training and supervision of master’s level interns. • Provides individual, group, and crisis counseling with around 70% direct service commitment
• Develops and delivers educational programs on self-management and mental health
• Consults with internal and external stakeholders, and with professional colleagues
• Collaborates with colleagues on campus committees and initiatives
• Acts as a resource and/or mentor for colleagues
• Contributes to gathering data, compiling information, and preparing reports
• Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

• Master’s degree in psychology, counseling, marriage and family therapy, or social work and relevant licensure (or eligible to be licensed within 12 months) within the State of Missouri
• Four years’ experience providing mental health services
• Professional experience in a university/college counseling center setting working with young adults and a diverse population

• Possesses knowledge of best practices and desire to learn and incorporate new service methods
• Comfortable in the use of computer technology (PyraMED software, email, web pages, Power Point, web-based surveys) to enhance services and outreach to students and campus
• Possesses professional liability insurance
• Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of state and federal health care privacy laws, Title IX, VAWA, ADA, Title II, HIPAA, FERPA, and professional ethics
