Job Summary

Reporting to the Vice President for Student Development Services, the Director of Student Conduct and Prevention Education leads initiatives and processes that teach students the Code of Conduct and ensure their compliance with it. This individual serves as the lead student conduct officer and investigates and adjudicates student conduct and Title IX cases. The director oversees community education efforts that focus on student behavior and holistic student health and wellness and works collaboratively with campus and District colleagues to deliver educational programming. The director is primarily responsible for developing, leading, and facilitating behavior intervention strategies for the entire campus community. The director is expected to demonstrate significant compassion and empathy and value the diversity of the Tarrant County College community. The director also serves as the campus Deputy Title IX Coordinator.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Provides both proactive and responsive training to faculty and staff on behavioral intervention, student conduct and Title IX matters
• Responsible for developing behavior intervention strategies for students and employees based on assessed need
• Investigates allegations related to student conduct and Title IX involving students from inception to findings, while protecting neutrality, integrity and privacy of the investigation in congruence with college policy
• Serving as co-chair and case manager for the campus CARE Team (behavior intervention) is a key responsibility of this position.
• Upholds students’ rights and responsibilities within the student conduct process and the campus community
• Assists students in navigating college grievance and/or appeal processes
• Prepares written investigation summaries and other correspondence related to the student conduct and Title IX
• Creates and maintains student behavioral records in a disciplinary tracking software (i.e. Maxient)
• Develops and presents educational opportunities and programs to students, faculty and staff focused on preventative measures
• Responsible for providing direction to students and employees from inception to resolution of an incident
• Completes all disciplinary records/reference checks for transfer, employment, educational licensure or other purposes
• Assists the District Title IX Compliance Officer in ensuring compliance with federal and state laws including, but not limited to the Clery Act, Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act ( FERPA ), Title IX, Violence Against Women Act ( VAWA ), Drug Free Schools and Community Act
• Provides immediate and ongoing support of referral of resources for students of concern or in crisis including, but not limited to, referrals to campus resources and outside agencies (e.g., counseling, housing, food, legal)
• Develops and implement assessment to measure student learning, success, completion and wellness
• Participates in professional associations and on-going trainings and certifications in the areas of behavioral intervention, student conduct and Title IX
• Collaborates with faculty and staff partners across the District to support holistic student learning, success, completion and wellness
• Engages in other initiatives supporting student success including executing duties by the District Title IX Coordinator
• Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite
• Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored through Tarrant County College ( TCC )
• Supports the values of the College: diversity, teaching excellence, student success, innovation and creativity and service to the College
• Supports the mission, values and 3 goals and 8 principles of the College

Required Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensures

• Master’s degree in Higher Education, Counseling or related field
• Three (3) years of experience in a higher education environment working with student conduct, student behavioral intervention, students in crisis and Title IX investigations or closely related field
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record

Desired Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensures

• Experience using student behavioral management databases (i.e., Maxient, Symplicity)
• Experience with developing student learning outcomes and assessment plans
• Experience with holistic case management consistent with conduct investigations and student behavioral intervention
• Experience with Title IX, VAWA, Campus SaVE, FERPA, and related federal and state laws
• Significant experience in developing and delivering educational programs, trainings and professional development initiatives
• Bilingual – Spanish

Knowledge, Skills and Ability

• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Documented training and/or certifications in Title IX and student conduct investigations and requirements
• Demonstrated experience in developing, implementing, leading and assessing educational programs for college students and college employees
• Demonstrated knowledge of student learning and student success theories, strategies and best practices, as well as work in student success initiatives
• Demonstrated experience of collaborative programs, initiatives and interventions that had a direct and positive impact on student success, learning, safety and/or wellness
