Lead Coordinator, Business Operations - Infectious Diseases

The ID Section is seeking a Lead Coordinator for Business Operations. This position will be responsible for developing and implementing educational and research projects in the BCM Infectious Diseases Section – BCM HOUSTON AETC team. This position will have dedicated duties for programs/projects for the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) and funded grant for the South Central AIDS Education and Training Center (SCAETC). The South Central AIDS Education and Training Center (AETC) cooperative agreement with the HRSA HIV/AIDS Bureau is a new cooperative agreement. The SCAETC region covers the states of NM, OK, TX, AR, and LA. Project ECHO at University of New Mexico (UNM) is the central office and administrative agency for the region. BCM-Houston AETC is a local partner site for this cooperative agreement and requires that there be an AETC manager specific for the BCM-Houston AETC program. The Lead Coordinator, Business Operations provides support by leading other operational support employees and coordinating projects and programs for the department. The role serves as a primary point of contact for department faculty and staff regarding general business and financial inquiries.

Job Duties
  • Performs outreach and coordinates training events with various stakeholders in the state including Ryan White funded clinics, the Department of Health, and healthcare teams in the state with the goal of improving health outcomes for People living with HIV and HIV prevention
  • Develops and implements programs as the local partner site of the South Central AETC program
  • Coordinates training and education of health care providers around the greater Houston area to meet the mission and goals of the SCAETC program
  • Works with the BCM-Houston AETC staff to design programs specific to the area and report all data including evaluations of all programs
  • Creates monthly reports for the UNM central office of work done in the state to inform our funding agency HRSA
  • Creates evaluation reports for speakers/trainers for the program to monitor and ensure high quality training
  • Establishes and implements goals for the program Under the direction of the SCAETC central office, including developing SMART objectives
  • Monitors impact of the training programs through evaluation and evidence from trainees to ensure excellence in the program and that all deliverables for the program are met
  • Point of contact for BCM Houston AETC training events along with the Houston AETC coordinators
  • Manages the daily administrative components of the program and staff
  • Helps arrange the program within the Greater Houston Area including outreach, education, and training events
  • Manages the internal staff who support the program including up to four project coordinators and student support staff
  • Trains, supervises, and evaluates the program staff
  • Point of contact for all SCAETC training and education events in the area
  • Participates in the community planning action group lead by the dept. of health and coordinate training with health care teams in the greater Houston Area.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Six years of relevant experience
