Job Summary
This entry-level Law enforcement work involving the safety and security of Alcorn State University students, staff and visitors on our campuses.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
• General knowledge of the duties performed by a police officer
• Basic computer skills
• Ability to communicate effectively
• Ability to function effectively in stressful situations
Essential Job Functions
• Patrol university property in order to detect and prevent criminal activities.
• Issue citation and arrest individuals committing unlawful activities on Alcorn States University property
• Secure buildings by locking them to prevent loss of property, vandalism and trespassing.
• Monitor traffic flow on our properties to reduce accidents.
• Assist other Law Enforcement Agencies when requested.
• Performs related or similar duties as required or assigned.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor
Qualifications
• Must demonstrate proficiency in human relations skills
• Must have at least a high school diploma or GED
• Must have knowledge of computer or some related skills
• Must be able to pass law enforcement officer academy
• Must be at least 21 years old
Licensing and Certifications
• Certified by the Law Enforcement Board of Minimum Standards
· Law Enforcement Officers currently certified by the Law Enforcement Board of Minimum Standards will be compensated based on prior law enforcement experience as a Certified Law Enforcement Officer.
