Candidate Profile

The Coordinator will support the operation of the Center by performing a range of specialized and administrative duties. The Coordinator will assist the Director in order to maximize the efficiency, effectiveness, and outreach of the Center. The Coordinator will have responsibility for welcoming people to the Center, running the office day-to-day, keeping organized paper and digital documents, inputting and reporting on the budget, organizing and planning events, and supporting a wide array of communication priorities and marketing initiatives to increase the use and visibility of the Center.

Description of Duties and Tasks
  • Welcomes visitors to the Center, and communicates with ACC faculty, students, staff, and the external community with information about the Center and its programs and services.
  • Assists students and guides external visitors and the community with information to increase knowledge of the culture and history of the AAPI community.
  • Writes and produces handouts, fliers, newsletters, brochures, and other promotional materials for the Center to support the Center’s communication and marketing initiatives.
  • Maintains and updates webpages and develops engaging content for social media networks to increase the Center’s presence at ACC and in the community.
  • Coordinates with business units within ACC and with vendors and external entities in preparing and implementing programs, events, and services offered by the Center.
  • Provides photography and video support during events and activities.
  • Maintains and keeps organized digital and paper documents.
  • Performs administrative and clerical tasks including examining and responding to correspondence, processing and prioritizing office communications, answering the phone and responding to calls and emails, and greeting visitors.
  • Assists in scheduling meetings for the Director and coordinating the Director’s schedule as needed.
  • Inputs data to spreadsheets, prepares requisitions, maintains budget sheets, and logs and tracks expenditures and receipts.
  • Gathers and maintains a contact information database on people who visit the center, attend events and would like to stay informed about the Center.
  • Serves as a mentor to students.
  • May be assigned responsibility for special projects.
  • Performs other administrative and operational duties as assigned.
Knowledge
  • Familiarity with AAPI communities and cultures.
  • Office management processes and procedures.
  • Basic bookkeeping procedures.
  • Event planning and coordination.
  • English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and vocabulary.
Skills
  • Excellent writing skills, from newsletters to feature stories that get attention.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills.
  • Customer-service oriented and solutions-focused mindset.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships.
  • Ability to maintain an established work schedule and to work some evenings and weekends.

  • Effective use of organizational and planning skills, including attention to detail and follow-through.
Technology Skills
  • Solid computer skills either on Mac or PC and comfortable using office productivity software tools including but not limited to Google Suite, Excel spreadsheets, Microsoft Word, and PowerPoint, or their Mac counterparts.
  • Skilled at using Zoom or its Google or Webex/Cisco communications platform counterparts.
Required Education
  • Associate degree required, Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Required Work Experience
  • Two years of related work experience.
Required Qualifications
  • Proficiency in an Asian language such as Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Korean or Vietnamese, etc.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Appreciation of diversity, and familiarity with issues related to equity and inclusion.
  • Familiarity with website management tools such as WordPress.
  • Ability to design and manage social media campaigns and proficiency with platforms such as Facebook and Instagram.
Physical Requirements
  • Work is performed in a standard office environment and subject to standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling.
  • Occasional lifting of objects up to 10 pounds.
Safety
  • Work safely and follow safety rules. Report unsafe working conditions and behavior. Take reasonable and prudent actions to prevent others from engaging in unsafe practices.
Salary Range

$41,600 - $51,045

ACC Benefits Overview

Full-time faculty and staffing table employees who work in full-time and/or part-time positions at the college are eligible for ACC medical benefits effective the first of the month after their first 60 days of employment. Benefits include medical, dental, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, retirement plans and AD&D.

ACC does not participate in Social Security. ACC participates in the Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS) and the Optional Retirement Program (ORP-Faculty and Administrators Only). Part-time and Hourly employees participate in the ACC Money Purchase Plan (ACCMPP) as a retirement program required by federal law.
