Shenandoah University seeks applicants for a Staff Accountant position. This is a salaried, benefitted position located in Winchester, VA whose usual hours are Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm .

The Staff Accountant position reports directly to the Senior Accountant and is responsible for performing accounting functions using established processes, including but not limited to the reconciliation of assigned general ledger accounts. They monitor account balances, prepare adjusting journal entries, perform reconciliations, and create and produce a variety of financial reports.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform accounting functions, including but not limited to the reconciliation of assigned general ledger accounts.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, including ad-hoc reports, analyses and journal entries.
  • Create, review and enter journal entries for assigned accounts
  • Respond to on-campus requests for information and act as a trusted advisor on accounting matters.
  • Maintains necessary working papers and supporting documentation related to journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Assists with various special projects as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Ability to work independently, handle large volumes of work, determine daily priorities and multi-task with frequent interruptions.

Ability to handle information in a confidential and professional manner.

Required Qualifications:

This entry-level position requires a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Degree in Business Administration with 15 credit hours in accounting from four-year College or University. Bi-lingual applicants are encouraged to apply.
