Lecturer - Environmental Studies Pool AY 2022/23

The Environmental Studies Program at California State University San Marcos accepts applications on an on-going basis for our pool of part-time lecturers. Teaching responsibilities span the broad field of environmental studies from introduction to environmental studies, research methods, and environmental and natural resource planning and policy, to land use, resilience and sustainability, environmental justice and related areas. Applicants with interests in how technical skills concerning environmental impact reports and the like involve larger questions about race, ethnicity, power and wealth are welcomed and encouraged.

Minimum qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in a related field and interests and experience in teaching lower division college students about environmental policy and planning, land use, and related issues.
  • Per the California State University’s Out-of-State Employment Policy, the CSU is prohibited from hiring employees to perform CSU-related work outside California. Working in the State of California is a condition of employment
Preferred qualifications:
  • Ph.D. in a related field (e.g., environmental studies, environmental planning, city and regional planning, geography, political science, and similar fields) and demonstrated interests, professional experience, and research publications in environmental policy and planning, land use and related fields.
  • Three to five years’ experience teaching upper division college students in environmental studies, policy, law, and sustainability.
  • Preference will be given to applicants with demonstrated commitment to diversity, inclusivity, and/or intercultural competence with diverse groups in relation to teaching.
Salary commensurate with degree level and experience
  • Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $4,530 - $8,000 per full-time month
  • CSU Classification Salary Range: $4,530 - $11,994 per full-time month
