The College of ECS seeks applicants for the position of Assistant Director, Alumni and Donor Engagement, reporting to the Assistant Dean, ECS Advancement and External Relations. The Assistant Director will be responsible for providing innovative leadership to create broad strategies that engage alumni and parents to advance the mission of the college.

This position creates, implements, and manages all aspects of strategic initiatives that maximize alumni engagement, support a culture of philanthropy and increase financial support.

This individual will be a leader whose work is guided by a comprehensive strategy for moving volunteer leaders and stakeholders through phases of engagement that result in donor support.

This position identifies and cultivates current and future alumni leadership volunteers and will implement vehicles in which to involve and engage them with the college. Examples of this include creating and overseeing subcommittees of the Dean’s Leadership Council, implementing councils or committees which elevate under-represented constituencies, working with ECS Career Services to facilitate and oversee the shared Alumni Connections platform, implementing online networking opportunities between students and alumni or faculty and alumni, and generating ideas to promote faculty research. Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 2+ years of experience working with volunteers and special events preferred.
  • Other related work experience could be substituted.

  • Comfortable working with social media and alumni engagement platforms.
  • Highly developed organizational skills.
  • Proven record of implementing and facilitating successful social engagements and events.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Self-motivated and has ability to generate results.
  • Supervise student employees hired to help with tasks related to mailings, events, and data entry.
  • Perform other engagement duties or projects as assigned.
Responsibilities
Develop, organize and implement a comprehensive and integrated alumni engagement program that aligns with the mission, vision, and strategic priorities of the college.

Identify and cultivate alumni, friends, and donors through activities to encourage interaction and create an enhanced relationship with the college.

Collaborate with ECS MarCom staff to promote alumni engagement through college communication efforts.

Partner with ECS Career Services staff to develop and execute programs for alumni to assist students with their career development (mentoring, alumni panels, information sessions, brown bag lunches).

Develop and execute strategic events to engage donors and prospects. This responsibility includes invite list generation, invitation drafting, registration pages, coordinating printing, mailing invites, tracking and following up on RSVPs, creating name tags, and other tasks associated with event planning.

Design, plan and execute successful regional and special events designed for alumni and potential donors working in specific geographic regions, employment sectors, and/or organizations. Work with regional alumni and ECS gift officers to develop and execute a plan for key cities.

Coordinate ECS -focused events and activities for such activities as the ECS Dean’s Leadership Council meetings, SU Reunions, Orange Central, Family Weekend, Coming Back Together and other all-campus alumni programs and serve as ECS’s liaison to the University Alumni Relations Campus Council.

Create a 12-month event and engagement schedule and calendar which contains all ECS Advancement events and meetings and accompanied by the respective donor engagement strategies supporting these events.
