Description/Job Summary

This course synthesizes, skills acquired in Beginning Drawing (Art 101), with new concepts and ideas in order to further develop a portfolio of work that indicates a personal direction. The foundation for this work is in observed form with steps into surrealism and abstraction. Media will include: pencil, charcoal, pastel, ink, and possibly digitally based media. There will be extended projects involving self-direction with guidance from the instructor.

Wed evening 6:00 pm – 8:30 pm

Responsibilities/Duties

Overview of the Position:
  • Facilitate instruction through the use of slides, lectures, discussion, gallery and museum visitations, written and appropriate art studio projects.
  • Develop Curriculum
  • Assess and grade students’ work in a timely and professional manner
  • Participate in Student Learning Outcomes Assessment (SLOA) Process
  • Attend Professional Development workshops and trainings
  • Communicate effectively with students as well as the office of English, Humanities, Visual and Performing Arts
Required Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Fine Arts or related field
Preferred Qualifications
  • Two(2) or three (3) years of teaching experience at a community college
