Portland Community College’s Veterinary Technology (VT) program is a regional leader in educating the next generation of Certified Veterinary Technicians (CVT). We are currently looking for an Instructional Support Technician who has strong CVT knowledge and experience, can balance academic rigor with practical application, and is committed to equitable student success.

The Instructional Support Technician plays a vital role in the Veterinary Technology Program and is based at PCC’s Rock Creek Campus . This position’s primary responsibilities are

● Lab preparation and instructional support for Vet Tech courses

● Inventory management and equipment maintenance

● Provide instructional support alongside Vet Tech faculty and staff

● General Student Support

Candidate Profile

These qualifications, skills and abilities are critical for success in this position.

  • Demonstrated ability to work as an integral part of the medical team to maintain animal health and well-being
  • Experience maintaining the general cleanliness and functionality of veterinary facilities and equipment
  • Experience educating learners either in a traditional, or non-traditional setting supporting them, in a variety of ways, to achieve their learning goals
Minimum Qualifications

To be considered, your application must demonstrate these minimum qualifications. (Experience is calculated based on the start and end dates you provide multiplied by the number of hours per week worked).
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Two years of post-secondary education in a specific technical discipline appropriate to the instructional support (Veterinary Technology) [Note: Relevant experience may substitute for the post-secondary education requirement on a year-for-year basis.]
  • Three years of experience in veterinary technology
  • State of Oregon Certification as a licensed Veterinary Technician (CVT), or license-eligible with license acquired prior to start of position
  • Proven written and oral communications skills adequate to assist students in understanding the work they are to perform
  • Proven ability to lead others and evaluate performance
Position Grade 19 Starting Salary Expectations The first two steps of the range are: $48,182 to $49,627 per year. Higher salary placement may be available based on qualifications, experience and internal equity. Position Grade Salary Range $48182 to $77315 Annual Salary FTE 1 PCC Benefits

Paid Leave: (Pro-rated by FTE for Part-Time Employees)
  • Starts at 8 hours of vacation leave per month (additional vacation hours with years of service)

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

Work pressure, disturbances of work flow and/or irregularities in work schedule are expected and occur on an intermittent basis. Changes in the performance environment require occasional upgrading of skills. Working conditions may be somewhat disagreeable requiring occasional exposure to safety hazards, noise and temperature extremes. Some learned physical skills are required. Physical effort such as frequent standing, walking and lifting; guiding and/or carrying of lightweight materials or equipment; occasional periods of sustained effort.
