The Assistant Director of Student Rights, Responsibilities and Conduct reports directly to the Associate Dean and Director of Student Rights and Responsibilities. This role's principal responsibility is to oversee all matters pertaining to student behavior, student conduct, and Title IX primarily on the Florham Campus.   This is a 12-month, full-time, professional, live-in position, with senior staff on call duty responsibilities in connection with our Housing and Residence Life Office.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES:1. Ensure compliance with due process for all nonacademic student conduct incidents and consistent application of the Code of Student Rights, Responsibilities and Conduct.2. Serve as lead hearing officer for alleged violations of the Code and review all incident reports in order to oversee conduct case management, sanction follow up, and appropriate interventions for paraprofessional staff in the office.3. In connection with the Director provide oversight to ensure due process, timely adjudication, and consistent sanctioning.4. Provide input for policy development pertaining to student rights and responsibilities as well as other applicable university policies.5. Coordinate and oversee the University's hearing board consisting of faculty, staff, and student members. Initiate executive staff/faculty recruitment and retention.6. Train and provide on-going education to department's hearing officers and other University partners as needed, including, but not limited to, hearing board members, and student leaders.7. Investigate all incidents/assign to appropriate paraprofessional staff in the office for follow up via Code process and impose appropriate sanctions based on severity of incident.8. Oversee the implementation of all educational, motivational, developmentally-tailored sanctioning interventions.9. Partner with Director/Deputy Title IX Coordinator to ensure effective and timely follow up for all Title IX incident reports.10. Maintain effective partnerships with key departments including, but not limited to, Housing & Residence Life, Title IX Coordinator, Academic Deans/Faculty, Associate Deans, Athletics, SCAPS, Health Services, Enrollment Services, Financial Aid, Student Life Public Safety, etc.11. Provide consultation to faculty, staff, students, and parents regarding the Code and Title IX policy and process.12. Serve as a member of the BIT/Care Team.13. Assist with the development of prevention education programs and outreach efforts encouraging appropriate behavior as well as through enforcement of programs that respond to violations of behavioral standards.14. Provide support, education, and training to residence life staff in managing the non-academic conduct process, including extensive training before each semester, ongoing case management, and updates throughout the academic year.15. Assist in clearance and background check process for Dean's certification; employers and professional associations; and for some campus needs (leadership positions and awards/honorees)16. Conduct regular follow-up with students found responsible for violations who have not completed assigned sanctions. Oversee the management of administrative holds for overdue sanctions, when appropriate.17. Assist in compliance with federal laws including Title IX, the Safe and Drug Free Schools and Communities Act, and Clery Act among others.18. Assist as needed with departmental presentations and/or programs regarding Code and/or Title IX policy/protocols.19. Supervise graduate assistants.20. Assist Associate Dean with referring students via appropriate processes and to typical campus resources.21. Performs other duties as assigned.
