Primary Purpose of Position:
The successful candidate must possess: knowledge of the standard practices and methods of carpentry and painting; knowledge of tools and materials used in repairing and constructing wooden articles; knowledge of elementary arithmetic and units of measure; ability to read and work from blueprints, drawings, or sketches; ability to make accurate arithmetical calculations; ability to perform task which require walking, standing, bending, stooping, and working in awkward positions; ability to lift moderately heavy objects cutting, bending, securing, wrapping, or finishing the surface of pipes, vents, ducts, drywall, and other materials; skill in the use of carpenters' hand tools and woodworking machines; skill in mixing paints and in matching and blending colors; skilled in the use and care of tools and equipment used in painting.

Minimum Education/Experience:
High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work. Optional Guidelines: Experience in the Trade(s) areas related to the area of assignment may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
The successful candidate must possess:
  • A working knowledge of occupational hazards and standard safety practices;
  • Knowledge of understand principles of general building maintenance to include: roofing, carpentry, painting and other general carpentry works
  • Knowledge of operating variety hand and power equipment in a safe manner
  • Ability to follow instructions and be proactive
  • Ability to work independently with little or no supervision
  • To take initiative to see projects and assignments through to completion
  • To learn, interpret and analyze information to make necessary decisions
  • To exercise judgment and discretion in problem solving
  • To plan, prioritize and organize workflow
  • Ability to work flexible schedules
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills along with written and oral communication skills.
