Acumen is seeking a Senior International Officer (North America) to provide recruitment support and partnership development for a leading UK university, London Metropolitan University.

The Role
This role, as a member of Acumen’s higher education advisory team, will support London Met’s International Recruitment Team, focusing on the USA.
The role will be home-based, preferably in a metropolitan area near an airport hub. The role reports into Acumen’s Client Success Manager in the USA and London Met’s Deputy Head of International Development in the UK.
Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States. Acumen does not sponsor employment visas.
Overview
London Met has an established presence in the USA, but is looking to continue enhancing our work in this region. This role will lead on the development and implementation of outreach, marketing, and recruitment strategies to increase the number of full degree undergraduate and postgraduate students from North America.
The role will also support partnership development and study abroad recruitment. London Met’s student population is uniquely diverse, and the Senior International Officer (North America) will value and recruit for diversity. This will include supporting our partnerships with Community Colleges and Minority Serving Institutions. We are looking for an innovative and proactive individual who shares our passion for social justice to support us in driving forward this agenda.
Main Responsibilities
- Identifies opportunities – and effectively communicates them in the form of written strategic market plans – to increase market visibility for the University, advising and developing marketing and communication strategies and viable advertising opportunities in the US market and other means of raising awareness about study at the University.
- Represents the University at education and recruitment fairs, conferences, and school visits both in person and virtually as is practical.
- Engages prospective students, counsellors, parents and other stakeholders throughout the student recruitment cycle, converting leads to applicants, offer holders to acceptances and acceptances to enrolled students.
- Engages with partners across the USA to develop sustainable recruitment channels, ensure excellent partner service and drive new modes of collaboration – this includes working on our flagship partnerships with Community Colleges and Minority Serving Institutions.
- Provides market insight on North America trends and makes recommendations to support informed decision making for the development of these markets (eg: making recommendations on financial-aid, or, entry-requirements).
- Liaises closely with a range of colleagues in the Department of Student Recruitment & Business Development and acts as a key contact for this office’s staff and other University personnel visiting the USA.
- Contributes to the development of online and offline marketing tools, including social media, and presence on relevant online media; and will also contribute in the development of printed materials to support the University’s international recruitment activities.
- Liaises with colleagues in the UK to develop a system for best utilizing local alumni networks focusing on recruitment activities.
- Identifies and initiates links with universities, colleges, government agencies and other organizations in the designated countries.
- Is a team player providing mutual support and encouragement to other team members.
- Develops effective internal and external working relationships with a range of campus communities, and external partners, representatives, and professional organizations, leveraging these networks to achieve targets set by the University.
Information and reporting
- Develop and maintain a key contacts list and share a report with the client as and when necessary.
- Recording information from recruitment events and campaigns.
- Maintain time-sheets for projects and submit relevant reports as specified.
Other
- Conduct support for recruitment in a professional manner, observing confidentiality in relation to the University’s data, market intelligence, knowledge and other information.
- If required by the client, participate in virtual trainings from India.
- Any other duties as directed that commensurate within the scope and classification of the position.
- Knowledge of International Higher Education systems and processes.
- Ensuring that deliverables are met with a focus towards achieving the mutually agreed objectives and targets.
- Coordinate and liaise with internal administrative teams and with vendors for travel, hotel, event bookings etc. as and when required.
Qualifications and Training
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience
- Relevant postgraduate or professional qualification in business or marketing (desirable)
Experience
- Knowledge of the higher education sector and North American secondary and post-secondary education systems
- Knowledge of the UK higher education sector (desirable)
- Experience utilizing Excel or a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system to collect and analyze data
- Comfortable preparing and delivering presentations to a range of audiences.
- Marketing experience including email communications and social media engagement
Salary
The salary for this role will be in the range of $60,000 - $70,000 depending on skills and experience and in addition will include the standard Acumen Benefits Package offered to all employees.
