We are seeking a lively and creative communications professional to join our team as Web Designer/Developer to join our East Hartford Communications team working primarily on The University of Bridgeport projects.

This is a rare opportunity to join a rapidly growing team working to rebuild and revitalize a legacy brand in higher education. The perfect fit for this role has an eye for design, a talent for web development, and a passion for creating and measuring engaging digital experiences.

The Web Designer/Developer will ensure the University of Bridgeport website is accurate and up-to-date, optimized to deliver the best possible experience for our users, and in compliance with applicable accessibility requirements.

You will work closely with Goodwin’s Marketing and Communications team leadership on important projects like recruitment, fundraising, and branding campaigns, as well as other institutional initiatives. You will also forge strong working relationships with colleagues throughout administration, advancement, athletics, and our dedicated and diverse faculty.

Join our fun and creative team while enjoying a hybrid (on-ground/work from home) schedule. The physical office location of this position will be East Hartford, CT.

Essential Job Functions/Primary Responsibilities :

  • Updates and manages University website to ensure content is accurate, consistent, aligned with University standards, and in support of institutional goals
  • Posts weather closing/delay and emergency/crisis communications messages in conjunction with campus safety and security and other stakeholders
  • Attends planning meetings for major events (commencement, faculty research day, homecoming, etc…)
  • Works to address UB leadership requests and responds to communications requests from internal stakeholders
  • Provides additional communication support as needed (occasional community-wide emails, etc…)
  • Meets with department leaders and stakeholders about projects (new academic programs, upcoming events, new initiatives, enrollment and fundraising campaigns, etc…)
  • Collaborates closely with Goodwin team on enrollment marketing initiatives
  • Guides web projects through development stages
Other Functions :
  • Performs similar or related work as required, directed or as situation dictates.
  • Continues professional development and training; keeps current with trends.
  • Assists other department staff as needed to promote a team effort.
Knowledge, Ability and Skill :
  • Attention to detail and accuracy; strong organizational skills
  • Deep understanding of HTML, Javascript, CSS, PHP, and other web technology
  • Understanding of Google Analytics or similar platforms
  • Knowledge of search engine optimization best practices and web accessibility standards
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, anticipate needs and workflow
Qualifications

Education, Training and Experience :
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in web development, web design, computer science, or relevant field
  • A minimum of two years experience in a similar role
  • Web analytics experience
  • Experience using Adobe Creative Cloud software (Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Illustrator, etc…)
  • Familiarity with Wordpress and other content management systems
  • Familiarity with Constant Contact or similar email platform
  • Familiarity with MS Office programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Familiarity with setting up virtual meetings via Zoom and Microsoft Teams preferred
