St. Catherine University invites applications for a part-time Grant Writer position to work on our Major and Planned Giving team.

Our Development team builds great relationships so we can connect Donor's passions with current university projects. Our dedicated and generous donors are an important part of the St. Kate's community. Their generosity elevates the institution from good to great - and provides our students with the scholarships, technology, and top-notch professors to flourish and succeed. The Grant Writer will support the Corporate and Foundation Major Gift Officer with all stages of external grant seeking! Responsibilities include:

  • Identify funding opportunities
  • Write, edit and review grant proposals and submit them in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with teams or individual faculty and staff to develop, write, edit, prepare, and submit assigned proposals.
  • Ensure that all requirements in the development and submission of proposals are executed.
  • Maintain a portfolio of major corporate and foundation grant prospects and work to translate those into extramural support to the University.
  • Advise the Major and Planned Giving team on appropriate funding opportunities, interpreting funder interest and assessing alignment with University mission and priorities.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Three years of experience writing successful grants or meeting fundraising goals.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft suite, and technology as related to the needs of the position
  • Ability to carry complex projects from start to finish, juggle multiple projects, and set priorities.
  • Strong attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Experience serving diverse external and internal customers promptly, professionally and with respect and consideration.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior experience with prospect research and funding search tools
  • Experience in higher education/academic setting
