Job Summary

The University of Colorado Boulder Advancement Marketing and Communications team encourages applications for a Marketing Program Manager! Reporting to the Associate Director, Engagement Marketing, this position ideates, plans, and implements marketing programs for donors, alumni, and other CU Boulder constituents. This position greatly contributes to the planning, execution and analysis of effective digital communications; this work happens across a variety of platforms including email, website and social media.

The Marketing Program Manager will be responsible for creating multi-channel integrated marketing programs from ideation to execution and will demonstrate successful project management through mapping out clear timelines and scheduling results.

This role is highly collaborative, not only with other members of the Engagement Marketing team, but also with the Creative Communications and Storytelling teams within the larger Advancement Marketing and Communications structure.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a passion for data-led integrated digital marketing and communications and will be passionate about strategic marketing in a creative environment where communications plans are created to support CU Boulder’s mission.

This position has the opportunity to work in a hybrid capacity, with some work hours taking place onsite at the CU Boulder campus and others being remote.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Integrated Marketing Program Management
  • The Marketing Manager will ideate, plan and implement programs to engage donors, alumni and other constituencies through mediums such as event marketing, proposals, impact reports, stewardship programs, and campaigns.
  • Contributes to the planning, execution and analysis of effective digital communications across all channels (including email, website and social media). Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Building and implementing email marketing campaigns through Marketing Cloud.
  • Building and implementing internal e-communications for the Office of Advancement.
  • Pulling email marketing data, understand its relevance and be able to effectively communicate findings/highlights.
  • Working with the Engagement Marketing team to identify current communications trends and new tactics to improve effectiveness of email campaigns.
  • Assist the Senior Marketing Operations and User Experience Strategist in supporting allocated campus communicators through standard methodologies for eCommunications and their use of eComm tools including, but not limited to: Marketing Cloud and Salesforce.
    • Attend system-wide eCommunication product meetings, emergency sessions, trainings, etc.
    • Stay current with digital marketing suite of tools used by CU Boulder.


Email Marketing
  • Build and complete email marketing campaigns through Marketing Cloud, including creating email audience segments for the execution of email campaigns.
  • Support the Senior Marketing Operations and User Experience Strategist in large-scale email campaigns, from segmentation to reporting.
  • Assist in building the digital edition of the Coloradan magazine on CU Boulder’s Web Express platform.
  • Implement updates to Office of Advancement websites as necessary.
  • Support social media execution as needed.
Marketing Operations
  • Contribute to and help to maintain the Marketing and Communications Center of Excellence by providing training, templates, toolkits and other self-service tools to the larger Advancement organization.
  • Additional duties as assigned included, but are not limited to:
  • Actively participate in planning meetings to understand and develop messaging, identify target audiences and develop integrated marketing campaigns.
  • Create and complete surveys using Qualtrics.
  • Content writing and editing.

We anticipate this position will support a hybrid format (remote and in-person work).

What We Can Offer
  • The salary range is $53,000- $59,000 annually.
  • Relocation assistance is available for eligible candidates.

What We Require
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications or related field or equivalent work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 1+ years implementing email marketing campaigns.
What You Will Need
  • Familiarity and understanding of email platforms such as Marketing Cloud or similar tools.
  • Familiarity with Drupal or other content management platforms.
  • Familiarity with HTML coding for email and website applications.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce or similar CRM platform.
  • Knowledge of email standard methodologies and CAN-SPAM legislation.
  • Strong writing and editing skills.
  • Familiarity with AP Style.
  • Ability to analyze data and synthesize findings.
  • Excellent communication skills and a proven ability to work collaboratively.
  • Proven ability to optimally balance multiple projects in a fast paced work environment.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Positive demeanor with excellent customer service skills.

  • CU Boulder graduate or experience working within the University of Colorado system.
  • Experience working in higher education.
  • Understanding of Qualtrics survey software.
  • Experience using social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn.
  • Familiarity with AP Style.
