The Research Associate will work closely with BBI’s Director of Research and the Chairman of BBI in a fast paced environment to publish high-quality papers in prestigious journals and represent BBI externally by presenting findings at academic conferences. In this mission critical position, the candidate will work with the chairman and other research staff in all aspects of projects’ planning, development, implementation, and reporting. They will provide essential expertise in quantitative research methods to the BBI research team and may contribute to the development of project proposals.

Qualifications
  • PhD or ABD in social science or economics with at least 3 years of experience in disability policy research.
  • Proven ability to write for academic journals with at least 5 published articles as primary or secondary author.
  • Strong foundation in quantitative methods and a broad understanding of disability policy issues.
Job Specific Qualifications
  • Excellent oral and communication skills, including experience developing conference sessions and presenting research findings at academic conferences.
  • Demonstrated history of research excellence and a strong publication record.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and execute project activities and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to program complex statistical models using STATA and describe the findings to academic and non-academic audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop proposals for grants, books and special-issue journals as part of project dissemination activities.
  • Strong organizational skills and high level of attention to detail; flexibility to lead and manage multiple priorities, sometimes simultaneously, under deadlines.
Responsibilities
  • Write academic articles and project reports, present at academic conferences.
  • Design and implement project protocols with a focus on random controlled trials and quantitative analyses.
  • Develop and analyze novel survey instruments. Conduct analysis using secondary data sources.
  • Mentor students also working on sponsored projects.
  • Support administrative tasks related to funded projects and communication about Institute, and other duties as assigned.
