Mount St. Joseph University seeks a visionary leader to serve as Dean of The School of Behavioral & Natural Sciences. The appointment may begin as early as July of 2023.

The School of Behavioral & Natural Sciences currently offers undergraduate programs in the areas of Biology, Chemistry, Criminology and Criminal Justice, Computer Science, Mathematics, Psychology, and Social Work, with 100% of our graduates either working or enrolled in graduate programs within 6 months of graduation. The Mount has a robust Cooperative Education program and research opportunities that allow these programs combine theory with real-world experience to prepare students for professional success.

We seek candidates who embrace the University’s mission and have experience working collaboratively with higher education teams to develop and execute a shared vision that supports the Institution’s strategic plan. Applicants must have the ability to work collegially and effectively with faculty, students, staff, administrative colleagues, alumni, and the professional community.

The Dean reports to the Provost and is charged with the administration and leadership of the departments, faculty, and staff within the School of Behavioral & Natural Sciences. The Dean has supervisory oversight for all curricular and co-curricular programs offered within the School and serves as the primary spokesperson and advocate for the School with both internal and external constituencies. The Dean will work collaboratively with other School Deans, the Associate Provosts, department chairpersons, and the President’s Cabinet in growing enrollment and enhancing program excellence and is a member of both the Academic Leadership Council and the President’s Council.

Qualifications

Candidates must qualify for the rank of Professor or Associate Professor, with tenure. Applicants must be legally eligible to work in the United States, without sponsorship from the University under the Immigration Reform and Control Act. The candidate must have a demonstrated ability and commitment to diversity, equality, and inclusion.
