A full-time grounds worker position working Tuesday through Saturday, with Sunday and Monday pass-days, 6:00 AM-2:30 PM. During winter and summer months this position returns to Monday through Friday with Saturday and Sunday pass-days. In the winter, the position may work 4:00 AM to 12:30 PM, or 4:00 PM to 12:30 AM depending on operational need and seniority within the grounds dept. Major Responsibilities
Duties include but are not limited to: Maintains the appearance and condition of grounds by sweeping, raking, and shoveling debris. Plants seeds, shrubs and trees, cuts grass, trims shrubs and fertilizes lawns. Removes dead trees, load trucks. Maintains roads, parking lots, walkways and steps, breaks up concrete and asphalt and applies patch, removes snow and ice. Maintains athletic fields including lines, seed or re-sod. During the winter months, snow removal comprises 80-90% of the job, and hand shoveling represents a significant portion of snow removal.
SPECIAL NOTE : This position is a labor class position and as such is not subject to selection on the basis of seniority. Selection of the candidates shall be at the campus’s discretion from among those who apply. Functional and Supervisory Relationships Required Qualifications
Valid drivers license is required.

Applicant will be required to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License ( CDL Class B) and NYS commercial pesticide technician license within twelve (12) months of appointment.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION : The successful candidate will be subject to the provisions of the Omnibus Transportation Employee Testing Act ( OTETA ), which requires pre-employment and random drug and alcohol testing. Preferred Qualifications EEO Statement
