Job Description:

Basic Function and Responsibility:

With support from the Director of Student Learning and Engagement, and in consultation with the Manager of Academic Success and Support, the Coordinator provides supervision and direction for the operations of the Testing Center. The Coordinator organizes and manages the daily operations of the Testing Center, ensuring quality service is provided to students, faculty and the community. The Coordinator is responsible for the administration of a variety of tests and assessments, maintaining security of all testing materials and providing an optimal testing environment, all in support of student success at the College. In addition, the Coordinator collaborates with academic and student affairs departments to maintain, establish, and assess testing services at the College.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide leadership in developing, implementing and managing strategic vision and goals for testing services at the College. Work to ensure testing operations are in alignment with institutional priorities and national best practices and guidelines.
  • Supervise and manage testing staff to ensure the delivery of effective daily operations and programmatic efforts.
  • Supervise, plan, develop and implement training opportunities for employees including, but not limited to, on-going testing staff training and seasonal group proctor training.
  • Collect, analyze, and summarize data to continuously assess and improve program effectiveness and goal attainment congruent with institutional mission and strategic plans. As directed, prepare and write departmental and institutional report.
  • Develop, implement and maintain standard operating procedures for all areas of the Testing Center.
  • Maintain a culture of collaboration and communication in developing and sustaining relationships with various stakeholders across the College related to testing and student success services. Including, but not limited to, information technology, academic affairs, and student affairs departments.
  • Manage and facilitate communication and testing protocols with various testing vendors.
  • In consultation with the Director of Student Learning and Engagement and the Manager, Academic Success and Support, develop and monitor all budgets associated with areas of responsibility. Maintain inventory and recommend purchase of testing resources.
  • Monitor and disseminate information regarding testing services, goals, strategic initiatives, and impact on students' progress, persistence and success at the institution.
  • Develop, adapt, and improve programs and services in response to the changing needs of populations served and evolving institutional priorities.
  • Participate in Student Success leadership team meetings and area initiatives.
  • Participate as a member of various institutional committees, specifically committees related to testing, academic support, new student enrollment, and persistence.
  • Perform other job related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Qualifications and Working Conditions:
  • Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred in higher education administration or related field.
  • Two years of supervisory experience preferred, preferably in testing.
  • Demonstrated ability to train, motivate, mentor, and evaluate staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to use data to inform practice and experience in implementing programs and initiatives.
  • A high level of interpersonal and communication skills are required. Must be able to explain policies and communicate with others in situations requiring sensitivity and tact.
  • Experience with student support programs and services, particularly in the area of testing, preferred.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills. Demonstrated ability to plan, coordinate, prioritize, and effectively execute multiple initiatives, programs, and events and meet established deadlines.
  • Familiarity with diagnostic testing tools that support college course placement assessments, like that of ALEKS and Accuplacer, is preferred.
  • Ability to analyze situations, identify solutions, present recommendations, and anticipate issues and consequences of decisions and actions.
  • Ability to interact professionally and tactfully with people of different levels of education, cultural backgrounds, and life experiences, and to exhibit an adequate level of respect to fellow employees and the College community at large.
  • Ability to travel and work flexible hours at both the Skokie and Des Plaines campuses including some evening hours consistent with student need.
Physical Demands:

Light lifting up to 10 lbs and light carrying up to 10 lbs. Ability to reach above shoulder. Periods of time spent sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, bending and stooping. Mobility to move from building to building on-Campus and to visit off-Campus entities. Work is performed in a general office environment and is sedentary in nature. Little or no exposure to adverse working conditions.

HOURS: Monday - Friday - 8:15 am - 5:00 pm

SALARY: $55,249

Based on the needs of the college and with Administrator approval, some positions at the college may have remote or hybrid schedule options available. Please note, that during the 65 working day probationary period, employees are required to report to campus.
