Job Summary:

This position works under general supervision of the Athletics Building & Grounds Supervisor. The goal is to achieve organized and efficient surveillance of the Intercollegiate Athletic Facilities: to ensure the Facilities are secure, check Mechanical Spaces and provide superior customer and information services daily to people visiting Camp Randall and other associated Athletic Department facilities. Good public relations and communication skills are imperative due to the extent of interaction with staff, students, student-athletes, and the general public. Most encounters are friendly in nature, but a few can be stressful and threatening. The ability to maintain positive and professional customer relations in difficult situations is essential. This position is responsible for establishing and maintaining a high level of customer service. This position functions closely with other staff and departments to work as a team, but also requires the ability to work and make decisions independently.

Staff will serve as role models by practicing exemplary behaviors when working with Athletic staff members, students, Athletes, the general public, and other security staff. Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, co-workers, other departments, and the public.

Responsibilities:

Patrols selected buildings and/or sites to identify, report, and potentially resolve security issues, responds to emergencies, and assists in the investigation of incidents to provide dedicated protection and security to institution properties, students, staff and visitors. Provides assistance with administrative or operational unit tasks.
  • 25% Completes security and safety checks on institutional property by vehicle patrol, foot patrol, and bicycle patrol or at a fixed location
  • 25% Responds to emergency situations, assists with safety and security investigations, and accurately documents activities according to established policies, procedures, and applicable laws
  • 25% Assists with routine unit administrative operational activities
  • 25% Engages in problem solving and community engagement with security issues

Qualifications:

* Ability to maintain a valid Wisconsin driver's license and maintain a motor vehicle record that meets UW Risk Management Standards to drive State of Wisconsin owned vehicles.
* Public relations skills.
* Customer service skills.
* Written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to operate fire alarm monitoring equipment with proper training.
* Ability to operate digital automated building controls with proper training.
* Ability in using and maintaining cameras and other devices for recording, analyzing and summarizing information with proper training.* Ability to give directions and/or instructions in a clear, concise and courteous manner.
* Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks.

License/Certification:

Required
Drivers License - Valid and Meets UW Risk Management Standards

Work Schedule:

Saturdays from 6:30am to 6:30pm and Sundays from 6am to 2pm.

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.
