TheDirector of Multicultural and International Programs and Servicescreates a compelling atmosphere for dialogue and leads comprehensive retention and support services that enhance the college experience for our multicultural & international students. Our goal is to retain our students through degree completion via direct service, advocacy and education, using modern, student development practices. This role will be both a resource and advocate on campus forBIPOCstudent needs, while inviting the entire student community into conversation with one another to raise our collective ability to thrive in a multi-culturally relevant community. Responsibilities will be to:

  • Develop a comprehensive program plan focusing on co-curricular intercultural education and programming for all students.
  • Supervise and lead professional staff, as well as student employees, interns, and volunteers.
  • Partner with academic and non-academic departments to build bridges, remove barriers, support, and advocate for a positive campus-based experience for historically underrepresented students.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Equity & Inclusion and the Assistant Dean of Students for Persistence & Completion to develop specific policies, programs, and campus experiences focused on student persistence and graduation.
  • Utilize best practice research and campus data to identify and implement student interventions and services designed to improve student success metrics.
  • Establish and foster links between Multicultural & International Programs & Services and faculty and staff via formal and informal processes and programs, leading campus initiatives that benefit students.
  • Provide cross-cultural training and training on privilege, systemic oppression, micro-aggressions, identity issues, inclusion, student issues to faculty, staff, student leaders, classes and groups, engaging in and encouraging respectful dialogue.
  • Serve on college committees and participate in Student Affairs Leadership and Division meetings and activities.
  • Manage multiple projects and priorities, operating independently to achieve assigned goals.
  • Assist with policy decisions pertaining to students and support related grant activities.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Five years of experience in program administration and service delivery to include progressive experience in a leadership role directly related to inclusive practices or diversity, equity and inclusion in a higher education setting.
  • Experience supervising professional staff, managing budgets and building community.
  • Appreciation of, and experience working with a culturally, religiously, and socio-economically diverse student population including first generation college students.
  • Awareness, knowledge and skills around issues of intersecting identities, privilege, and systemic oppression, especially as it relates to race, class, religion/spirituality, sexual orientation, sex, and gender identity.
  • Experience bringing a variety of departments together to create partnerships that benefit students.
  • Experience facilitating groups.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Counseling, Higher Education Administration, Student Personnel, Sociology, or a related field.
  • Experience leading initiatives related to intercultural development on a college or university campus.
