PURPOSE:

Under the general supervision of the Associate Director of Engagement Applications, the incumbent is responsible for the Design, Development, Testing, deployment, documentation and maintenance of Information Technology (IT) projects, solutions and applications focused on Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Content Management (CMS) and PeopleSoft/Oracle Campus Solutions Systems.



Collaborates, consults and partners with functional and technical teams and individuals including vendors and external consultants to understand and discuss technology needs to then research, design, promote and deliver solutions that solve business problems and achieve desired outcomes while leveraging enterprise solutions to promote user adoption and reduce technical debt. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring industry-standard best practices and architectures are applied to develop, maintain, and support software and applications.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Independently analyze and understand complex campus technology requirements to architect, recommend and build new CRM, CMS and PeopleSoft technology solutions while working with project teams that support the design, development, testing, deployment and documentation of new products and features.
  • Performs complex application administration, configuration, customization, integration, installation of new releases, maintenance, troubleshooting, bug-fix, testing, and applying security policy best practices. Maintains usability, reliability, availability, and performance of the CRM, CMS, PeopleSoft platforms and ancillary products within the ecosystem, including but not limited to platform architecture and user facing applications and products while maintaining the CRMs visual force/ lightning pages and PeopleSoft/Campus Solutions Fluid Pages.
  • Communicates effectively by authoring functional and technical specification documentation and delivering ideas through verbal communication by way of meetings and presentations. Identifies new academic technology opportunities by creating and leveraging feedback loops using methods such as online chat rooms/channels and facilitating ideation workshops while presenting and promoting CRM and other IT products that will leverage automation to reduce technical debt and increase enterprise platform and business value.
  • Develops a good understanding of data structures to work closely with data and research analysts to create solid integrated solutions that support campus analytical requirements to support student success initiatives and data integrity efforts. Delivers reports, dashboards and other BI and reporting products. Performs system and data cleaning, record deduplication, periodic system health checks, and data integrity and manipulation tasks. Supports integration requirements using Boomi and other tools as needed.

  • Other Functions:
    1. May direct the tasks of student assistant(s).
    2. Perform other job-related duties and special projects as assigned.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    Knowledge of: Enterprise systems, applications, and technical standards; Linux/UNIX operating systems, database productivity tools including Oracle Enterprise Manager, Application Designer, SQL, SQL*Plus, PL/SQL, and SQL*Loader; data administration principles and data modeling concepts; technical and vendor documentation and ability to maintain internal documentation; system development life cycle and structured systems development concepts; system capability, design restrictions, and security requirements; client/server technologies, network connectivity, integration, configuration, and protocols. Knowledge of Salesforce.com Technologies: Apex Language, Apex Classes/Controllers, SOQL, SOSL, VisualForce Pages, Apex Web Services, Lightning, Case Management Automation, Salesforce Developer Console, Service Console, Live Chat, Chatbot, Reports and Dashboards. Experience with Salesforce data management tools such as: Data Loader, Developers Workbench, Demand Tools, OwnBackup.

    Ability to: apply consultative skills to assess user needs and communicate technology systems and solutions; maintain databases and middleware applications through performance tuning and applying patches/fixes/upgrades; develop program implementation plans, install software, and apply fixes; identify hardware/software interface problems; perform interactive debugging and to test and analyze program failures; use systems work flow and logic flowchart techniques; use project management tools.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    A basic foundation of knowledge and skills in database management, applications packages and programming, systems analysis and related programming support functions is a prerequisite. This foundation would normally be obtained through a bachelor's degree, preferably in computer science or business, or equivalent training and applied experience. Working knowledge of industry standard applications programming languages and knowledge of standard systems analysis techniques.

    SPECIALIZED SKILLS:
    • Experience with JavaScript, HTML, CSS, JavaScript ES6, JSON, REST, XML, Bash
    • Experience with NodeJS and NPM.
    • Knowledge of managing packages and dependencies for web applications.
    • Experience using GitHub Version Control systems.
    • Experience with custom integrations using APIs
    • Experience with database design, SQL

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent, in addition to the required experience.
    • Familiarity and experience with Salesforce Apex, Visualforce, Lightening web components
    • Professional certifications including but not limited to Salesforce Certifications
    • Ability to write simple documentation on requirements discovery and solution design
    • Familiarity with industry-standard: Software and Systems Development Life Cycles (SDLC) that follows project management frameworks such as agile/scrum and waterfall
    • Familiarity with industry-standard: IT Service Management (ITSM) for service areas such as incident, problem, change, communication, configuration, and release management.

        PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT:

        Office environment with standard equipment and tasks. Position requires working at a computer and desk for extended periods of time. May require travel between campus offices and off-campus locations.

        There are components of this job which are deemed essential on campus. This position will primarily work on the main campus, with occasional work from home. This position requires working on campus with students. The health and safety of our students, faculty, and staff remain our highest priority. In the fall, students, faculty, staff, and the community can expect that masks will be required and that the appropriate degree of social distancing will be in place in all areas based on evolving guidance.
