Assistant/Associate Professor, Elementary-Secondary Generalist

The Department of Education for Equity and Justice at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire seeks applicants for a tenure-track position at the rank of assistant or associate professor beginning August 22, 2023. We seek candidates who ground their work in issues of equity, power, privilege, and justice to contribute to the department’s goal of developing educators who implement anti-racist pedagogy, culturally responsive pedagogy, and inclusive and equitable practices.

Relevant background for the position includes intersectional and critical approaches to race, ethnicity, class, gender, and sexuality. A background situated in the inequities facing historically and currently marginalized youth and/or first-generation college students, as well as commitment to dismantling oppression, is preferred. Successful candidates will be qualified to teach a variety of courses in the elementary and secondary education programs, including introduction to education, pedagogy and methods, assessment, and curriculum. Work with a growing and collaborative group of teacher educators to provide leadership to the department, the college, the university, the community, and the profession. Participation in high-impact practices such as student-faculty collaborative research and immersion trips would be encouraged.

Assistant/Associate

• Earned doctorate from a regionally accredited institution by August 22, 2023 in curriculum and instruction, elementary and/or secondary education, or a similar field
• Current or former teacher licensure in an area of education for grades PK-12
• Minimum of three years of full-time U.S. K-12 school teaching experience with students
• Commitment to advancing justice and equity
• Commitment to teaching undergraduates
• Commitment to collaboration
• Evidence of teaching excellence
• Interest and/or experience in teacher preparation

Duties: Teach courses as assigned in the Department of Education for Equity and Justice; participate in scholarly activities; supervise students in clinical settings; provide academic advising to students as assigned; engage in service to the university and community; and participate in department, college, and university committee work. Assigned courses are dependent on candidate’s doctoral preparation and experience. Salary will be commensurate with teaching experience.
