The Department of Psychology at Gonzaga University in Spokane, WA invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track, Assistant Professor position beginning Fall semester 2023. We wish to welcome a human neuroscientist who is committed to the teacher-scholar model and to embracing diversity and inclusion in the classroom. Preference is given to candidates whose research explores outcomes for marginalized and underserved populations including, but not limited to, Black, Indigenous, People of Color, sexual minorities, people with disability, or those experiencing poverty. Candidates must demonstrate teaching excellence and a commitment to creating an inclusive learning environment. In alignment with Gonzaga University’s mission, we expect applicants to provide evidence of expertise in issues related to social justice, diversity and care for/solidarity with vulnerable and marginalized communities.

Required Qualifications:
• Ph.D. in Psychology or Neuroscience by July 15, 2023.
• Demonstrated active research agenda in the area of human neuroscience.
• Evidence of teaching effectiveness, including the ability to effectively respond to the academic needs of learners from diverse backgrounds, and diverse experiences.
• Demonstrated ability to teach psychological statistics or methods courses as well as undergraduate neuroscience courses.

Preferred Qualification:
• Preference will be given to candidates whose research explores outcomes for marginalized and underserved populations.

Job Duties:
• Teaching load of 18 credits per academic year (i.e., 3 courses per semester.) This will include courses such as Psychological Statistics, Research Methods, General Psychology as well as courses in undergraduate neuroscience.
• Engage in research and publication appropriate to the candidate’s areas of expertise. Engage undergraduates in this research work.
• Provide curriculum and career advising and mentoring to the program’s undergraduates.
• Support the department, university, and discipline through service and other forms of academic citizenship. This will include assisting in the creation of an undergraduate neuroscience curriculum.
