The University of Maryland School of Nursing (UMSON) is currently recruiting for an Academic Advisor and Support Coordinator in our Office of Academic and Career Success.

The Coordinator meets with and supports the achievements of student educational goals through three main thrusts: by providing academic advising to enrolled undergraduate and graduate students, by providing academic coaching in concert with UMB’s central services, and by helping to develop the holistic mission of student support at UMSON.

Essential Functions:

  • Facilitate academic advising services to enrolled students.
  • Provide mentorship, program administration, leadership development and academic support services to enrolled students.
  • Interface with faculty and other administrators to troubleshoot individual and collective student issues, and make recommendations for issue resolution.
  • Manage academic support services for currently enrolled students.
  • Serves as a resource to students on academic policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Actively participated in workshops and presentations related to student success topics.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

 

Qualifications

  

Education: Bachelor's degree. Master's degree preferred.

Experience: Two (2) years progressive experience working with college students with advising and/or academic support service experience. 

Preferred Experience: Experience working with student systems (Banner and DegreeWorks preferred).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of position requirements. Knowledge of all applicable requirements, regulations, and laws. Skill in effective use of applicable technology/systems. Ability to effectively communicate both verbal and written thoughts, ideas, and facts. Ability to work cooperatively with others and independently. Ability to demonstrate, understand, apply, and adhere to the UMB Core Values of Respect and Integrity, Well-being and Sustainability, Equity and Justice, and Innovation and Discovery.

Hiring Range: Mid $40,000s to low $50,000s; commensurate with education and experience
