Office of Advising

Job Summary
Provide support and leadership to Office of Advising with a focus on advisor training and professional development, assessment of student learning and satisfaction, and development of academic advising initiatives. Manage advising and retention components of student success technologies/platforms. Analyze advising-related data to inform decision-making about tools and technologies for advising and retention efforts. Engage with Director of Advising and Provost's Office on persistence and graduation initiatives. This position has been identified by Federal Law (Jeanne Clery Act) as a Campus Security Authority (CSA), with significant student and campus responsibilities. CSA 's are obligated to report crimes reported to them which occurred on campus, in public areas bordering campus and in certain non-campus buildings owned or controlled (leased) by the University.

  • Perform related duties as assigned to support the mission of the University
  • Represent department on committees
  • Serve as primary advising leadership, coordination, and oversight for DegreeWorks, EAB Navigate, and/or other projects and platforms
  • Assist with coordination of academic alert system, including distribution of caseload, advisor follow up, communication with university stakeholders, data tracking, and student issues in need of escalation
  • Provide leadership role for advising when the Director is unavailable
  • Teach first-year seminar course
  • Serve as chair for advising team standing committees
  • Support Academic Advising Team
  • Serve as liaison to other University units
  • Coordinate and facilitate New Advisor Training
  • Provide oversight for advisor professional development program
  • Collaborate on effective advising evaluation and assessment systems
  • Engage in campus-wide student-success, academic success, and retention activities
  • Coordinate advising aspects of Orientation Week
  • Maintain caseload of advisees

Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
  • Master's Degree

Required Experience
  • Three (3) years of advising/retention experience in higher education setting

Proposed Salary
$55,000 - $66,000

  • Proficiency in data analysis/interpretation skills, including tracking, reporting and synthesizing data from different sources

  • Effective communication (verbal and written), organizational and human relations skills
  • Effectiveness in working with faculty and professional staff on best practices in academic advising and incentivizing execution of strong advising standards
