Texas A&M University
Dean, Mays Business School

Texas A&M University (TAMU) invites nominations and applications for the next Dean of the Mays Business School to lead the school in its goal of becoming the preeminent public business school in the country.

Located in College Station, Texas, the Mays Business School annually educates more than 6,300 undergraduate, master's, and doctoral students in accounting, finance, management, management information systems, marketing, and supply chain management. With 180 faculty, 188 staff, and a vast number of alumni, the school ranks consistently among the top public business schools in the USA and among top business schools globally.

The Dean serves as the chief academic and executive officer of Mays Business School, reporting to the Provost and Executive Vice President. The incoming Dean will assume leadership after the successful tenure of Interim Dean Dr. R. Duane Ireland. The incoming Dean will have a strong foundation upon which to build—a faculty known widely for its research productivity and teaching excellence, a history of student success, strong employer connections, and continuous program development that is designed to meet changing market demands.

The successful candidate will possess the leadership skills, vision, and enthusiasm to build on Mays Business School’s commitment to academic excellence, and experience in leading a highly research-productive faculty. The incoming Dean will inspire a dynamic and innovative academic culture through awareness of the transformation required for a business school to anticipate and respond to changes in student demographics and values; in budgetary and other economic pressures; and in in-person and internet-based education models in the increasingly connected global society. As a senior academic officer, the Dean will work closely with key stakeholders inside and outside the school to foster excellence in all academic and research programs. The successful candidate must have the ability to provide innovative leadership, management skill and insight, and an agility to manage relationships across a wide spectrum of constituents.

Competitive candidates will typically have an advanced, terminal degree in Business Administration or a closely related discipline and are most likely to be a full Professor. A seasoned Associate Professor on the verge of promotion to full Professor who has substantial experience at similar levels of university leadership may be considered. Mays Business School encourages candidates from diverse backgrounds with the qualifications noted above and an interest in this position to discuss their interest with the search firm.

Nominations and expressions of interest will be accepted until a list of candidates is put forward for final consideration, though applications submitted by September 30th, will receive full consideration. Applications and nominations should be submitted directly to Korn Ferry. Applicants should submit a curriculum vitae and letter of interest, addressing the responsibilities above, electronically to
