Boston University invites applications for a non-tenure track Assistant Professor position in the School of Hospitality Administration (SHA).

One Assistant Professor specializing in hospitality analytics. As an industry, hospitality increasingly relies on the ability to harness data across a variety of functions: operations, marketing, experience management, revenue management, and strategy, among others. The ideal candidate must be able to teach courses in and conduct research in hospitality analytics. In addition, the candidate must demonstrate a willingness to develop innovative courses in analytics in specialized domains, for example hospitality real estate analytics.

Required Skills

Qualifications: Candidates for the Assistant Professor position should have earned doctoral degrees in applied statistics, business analytics, or a related field. Experience and/or demonstrated interest in the hospitality industry is highly desirable. Evidence of effective teaching and potential for high quality research required. Candidates should be able to teach related courses. Experience in working with federal grants, international exposure and work experience are highly desired.

Expectations:

Assistant Professors are expected to teach, conduct, and actively publish peer-reviewed scholarly research, as well as participate in professional and university service.

All faculty members are expected to develop connections with industry professionals and to continuously update their expertise through industry consulting and scholarly activities. Faculty members are also expected to advise individual students and student groups, and to participate in school and university service activities.

School Profile: The School of Hospitality Administration at Boston University http://www.bu.edu/hospitality  is a specialized business program focused on the hospitality sector, especially the hotel and restaurant industries, with a solid liberal arts foundation, with approximately three hundred students enrolled. SHA is part of a major research university, located in a cosmopolitan city with world-class academic institutions and a vibrant hospitality sector. With a core focus on lodging and accommodations as well as restaurant and food & Beverage. We continue to push the limits of the definition of “hospitality” to include senior living, retail, sports, workplace - areas in which the element of human interaction provides memorable experiences.
