Syracuse University Information Technology Services ( ITS ) seeks an enthusiastic and innovative application analyst/developer to join the Enterprise Applications Systems ( EAS ) team. The EAS team supports business units that rely on PeopleSoft Campus Solutions, HCM, Financials and Integration Hub (MySlice portal), including data integrations with systems on-premise and cloud systems. This position’s focus is with Campus Solutions, integrated student supports systems and MySlice.
The successful candidate will provide analysis, design, development, implementation, troubleshooting, and production support. You will assist Functional Business Analysts (FBAs) in the analysis of vendor provided upgrades change requests, contributing to project planning and scheduling. You will work collaboratively with functional and technical analysts to design, develop, test, and implement solutions. This position is an excellent opportunity for you to continuously build technical skills with tools such as PeopleCode, PeopleTools, Application Designer, Application Engine, PeopleSoft Fluid, SOAP and REST APIs, SQL and SQR using a combination of independent investigation, collaborating with peers, and formal training. This position is expected to work flexible hours including occasional weekends for production moves that occur outside business hours. This position may be eligible for remote work. Qualifications
  • Three years in application development or a bachelor’s degree in a related field.
Job Specific Qualifications
  • Proven ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment is required.
  • Interpersonal skills are required for effective collaboration.
  • Strong written and verbal skills are required to translate and communicate business requirements and technical solutions.
  • Experience with SQL, SQR and data mover scripting is required.
  • Excellent analytical problem-solving skills are required.
  • Familiarity with Electronic Data Interchange ( EDI ) is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of PeopleSoft Campus Solutions, HCM or Financials is preferred.
  • Experience with PeopleTools, Application Designer, Integration Broker and Fluid framework is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines ( WCAG ) is preferred.
  • General understanding of application lifecycles is preferred.
Responsibilities
  • Provide general analytical, development, problem-solving, technical, and maintenance support for Oracle/PeopleSoft applications and operations.
  • Research and evaluate new modules and/or enhancements.
  • Analyze impact of vendor-provided updates/upgrades on current deployment and work with FBAs to formulate plan to implement.
  • Work with FBAs to understand functional requirements and assist in translating them to technical solutions.
  • Design and develop solutions, recommending improvements as appropriate.
  • Participate in test planning and execution.
  • Participate in implementation planning and execution, and support through stabilization.
  • Provide level 2 and 3 support for production issues, contributing to root cause analysis as appropriate.
  • Proactively pursue knowledge of frequently changing technologies and recommend potential opportunities
