Class Description

Provides assistance to students in determining appropriate class placement. Provides assistance in developing CCBC Continuing Education Homeschool curriculum. Assists with the recruitment and mentors new adjunct faculty in the Homeschool Program and Works cooperatively with the program coordinator to identify new courses of study, identify teaching materials and cultivate community relationships.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor's degree required, degree in education, psychology, or academic field preferred. Five (5) years teaching experience required. Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively in a diverse workplace. Experience with curriculum development and instructional technology preferred.

Class Specific Essential Duties

  1. Assist in revising and adding new Homeschool courses.
  2. Assist in expanding the overall Homeschool enrollment by 2%.
  3. Advise new and returning students on which homeschool course opportunities are best for their academic needs.
  4. Assist with recruiting and mentoring new adjunct Homeschool faculty.
  5. Advise on the most effective books, materials and teaching techniques for the program.
  6. Plan, develop, and facilitate at least one in-service experience per year for the Homeschool faculty.
  7. Help identify various homeschool populations in the community that could benefit from a Homeschool Destinations@CCBC.
  8. Develop activities that promote active student involvement.
  9. Report by phone, email, or in-person, your progress on these above efforts to your Coordinator.
  10. Assist in coordinating services to help meet the needs of faculty, staff, and students, assisting during and after classes.

  • Roth 403(b) is a savings feature that is available when you open a 403(b) account. The Roth 403(b) savings feature allows employees to contribute after-tax dollars and then withdraw tax-free dollars from their account upon retirement. The Roth 403(b) savings feature is only offered by the following vendors: TIAA-CREF and VOYA Financial Advisors, Inc. Adjunct Faculty, Part Time Associates and Full Time employees are eligible to save for retirement using the Roth 403(b) savings feature. Employees may contribute traditional pre-tax 403(b) dollars and Roth 403(b) post-tax dollars simultaneously. The savings limits are combined for the Traditional 403(b) and the Roth 403(b) contributions.
  • Deferred Compensation Plan — 457(b) offered through VOYA Financial Advisors, Inc. The 457(b) salary reduction authorization form is needed. The form is available on SharePoint Forms/Human Resources Forms.
Parking
Free. Must obtain a parking permit from the Department of Public Safety to use on all campuses.
